There were some stories that India was going to be given 1,000 F-16's from the US as part of a Indian-US weapons deal.

That's bigger than the Indian airforce itself!!!Even if 500 of them are to be newly built-it would take upto 10 years for delivery.IOW,pure crap!!!!
India won't take F-16s as the pakis have them, perhaps something more top-notch. They still take Mirages -- and Mirages have knocked out F-16s
