Maybe no point is releasing to the public, but maybe to the intel agencies.

"The recording could help resolve questions over Atta's whereabouts in January 2000, after he fled his home in Hamburg, Germany.

Osama bin Laden is also shown on the hour-long video addressing supporters at a site in Kandahar, Afghanistan, the newspaper reported. It said a timecode stamp indicated the al-Qaida leader was speaking on January 8, 2000. "

It may indicate something about their planning way back over a year and a half before the attacks.

I am sure -- ore at least hope, that the intel agencies would have someone who can lip read and figure out at least part of what they are saying on the tape.

OPINION: Interesting...the delivery of the tape and the timing could be even more interesting than the message itself.

I've been out staining porches this afternoon/evening...so will look around and see what others think.
