One of the primary reasons that cities have abandoned arresting illegals on immigration violations is the futility of it - they waste incredible man-hours & other resources arresting them, and the Feds won't take them off their hands, much less deport them.
Fortunately this is changing now...

We Houstonians didn't declare ourselves anything of the sort.
Our illustrious leaders, elected by the same teensy pocket of real estate with a 102% voter turnout that consistently elects Sheila Jackson Lee, is to blame for that.
And like I said, Houstonians are way hot about this. Calls are going out for the police chief to resign. (I'm one of the voices.)
