Some of that stuff was a normal part of growing up when I was a kid.
My cousin's house has a trapdoor to the basement in their kitchen floor. We would pick a victim and grab them before they could get away. Then we would hold them over the trapdoor as 6 others stood on the steps and slapped the crap out of their belly.
I remember putting Icy Hot in a guys jock strap before football practice.
That sounds a lot harsher than some of these techniques.

My older brother used to hold me (age 4-6) over the well, upside down, holding me by my ankles.
when he was on his death bed, i thought about unplugging his oxygen for about 60 secs at a time.....joking of course, i didn't really think about it ..... until it was too late.
