Hello. Thank you.
One of FR's long time members, and one of it's most reasonable, Nick Danger, is in the hospital. Please post any comments and prayers you may wish to express on the thread started for that purpose. Click this link.
While X-Pres Clinton lathers up about HIS efforts and how its always about HIM, our brave President works at efforts to help protect US because its about OTHERS. The sermon today was about prayer and how much more effective and honorable to God is when our prayers are "we" not "me"...
yello!
Now that should make for some interesting photos! ;o)
Evenin' everybody, I'm so glad to be able to check in on the Dose tonight. I don't have a lot of time to post here these days (hopefully that is going to change a little, soon) but I always enjoy the pictures.
My husband just found our dear, dear cat, Cinnamon........18 years old.........underneath his favorite ferns, dead.
We had not seen him all day, so he looked in all the 'usual places' and found him there.
I cannot believe the pain I feel right now. We just talked to all four kids before we knew, and now will have to tell them all, and their hearts will break. He was an outdoor cat and outlived his life expectancy by 6 years, but that doesn't help right now....
Thanks for letting me share this with those who will understand my deep sorrow. We have lost a dear, sweet friend.
Thanks as always for your posts, they're great.
"The more Communist and Islamofacist scum disrespect our President, the more GWB's stature rises in my eyes."
. . . sane Americans seem to agree: Today, RASMUSSEN puts the President's JA rating at 45% approve 53% disapprove among 'adults'
[NOTE: If Rasmussen were still using an EVEN weighting formula (as he did in 2004 and 2005), this would put the President's rating at 49% among 'adults' and 52% among 'likely voters'! . . . HEADS UP: Since Rasmussen and Gallup almost always post INVERSE numbers, Gallup will probably announce tomorrow that the President's JA rating has 'plummeted' and is now back in the mid-30s! -- today's pollsters are such charlatans!]
http://rasmussenreports.com/Bush_Job_Approval.htm
[BTW: Have you noticed that when Rasmussen notes an increase in the President's JA ratings he always adds the following disclaimer: "It is impossible to tell whether the recent increase reflects lasting change or is merely statistical noise."? However, he NEVER adds a similar disclaimer when the President's JA ratings decline! . . . Again, today's pollsters are charlatans!]

THE GOP'S BUSH-LED TURNAROUND
By Lawrence Kudlow
President Bush continued his bold pre-November offensive this week, focusing our attention on the war, national security, the totalitarian regimes in the Mideast and even taxes.
. . . Bush is doing a great job this political season. His polls are rising everywhere, as are the numbers for congressional Republicans. The House GOP 2006 contract on TradeSports.com is up to nearly 57 percent, from 38 percent two weeks ago. That's an amazing turnaround, and huge credit goes to Bush.

BYRON YORK RESPONDS TO BILL CLINTON'S ADOLESCENT TIRADE:
[Thank goodness we now have an ADULT in the White House!]
BILL CLINTON'S EXCUSES
No matter what he says, the record shows he failed to act against terrorism.
By Byron York
I worked hard to try and kill him, former president Bill Clinton told Fox News Sunday. I tried. I tried and failed.
Him is Osama bin Laden. And in his interview with Fox News Chris Wallace, the former president based nearly his entire defense on one source: Against All Enemies: Inside Americas War on Terror, the book by former White House counterterrorism chief Richard Clarke. All Im asking is if anybody wants to say I didnt do enough, you read Richard Clarkes book, Clinton said at one point in the interview. All you have to do is read Richard Clarkes book to look at what we did in a comprehensive systematic way to try to protect the country against terror, he said at another. All you have to do is read Richard Clarkes findings and you know its not true, he said at yet another point. In all, Clinton mentioned Clarkes name 11 times during the Fox interview.

JIM MORRISSEY (CAPTAIN'S QUARTERS) RESPONDS TO THE NYTIMES LATEST LEAK OF CLASSIFIED INFORMATION:
NIE: Ending 12-Year Iraqi Quagmire Made Terrorism Worse
The new National Intelligence Estimate will report that the Iraq War has amplified Islamist movements and created a new generation of jihadists, according to the New York Times, which saw an advance copy of the summary and spoke to several sources involved in its creation. (The Washington Post also reports on it here.) Mark Mazetti explains how the various intelligence agencies have concluded that our efforts to topple Saddam have inspired even more radicalism, but strangely absent from this report is how Islamist expansion managed to exponentially grow in the twelve years that we attempted to resolve the Iraq quagmire peacefully:

DAYS OF AWE
Powerlineblog.com (Scott)
Today and tomorrow I'll be out of commission observing the Jewish New Year. I thought before checking out I would repost this item that we originally ran on September 30, 2003. It reported (courtesy of our friend Rabbi Jonathan Ginsburg) an otherwise uncovered event and PROVIDED A GLIMPSE OF AN IMPROTANT SIDE OF PRESIDENT BUSH. Making adjustments for the changes in circumstances between then and now, I think it remains timely.

OVERALL
We're such a small people, and we have been controlled, restricted and murdered by the greatest empires in history. We have arrived at this period of history, still a time of danger for our people, but we are living in the freest country in history.
I was just stunned to be sitting across the table from the most powerful person in the world, a man of true humility and belief in one God, who spent much of this hour and a quarter, speaking from the depth of his heart about his concern about anti-Semitism and his understanding of Israel's predicament. I know many disagree with policies of his. I'm sure every rabbi there had some disagreements. But there was no denying the moment, the genuineness, the power of the experience. It felt surreal.
When I left I went across the street to the park and cried. I had so much emotion about being there. After all we have gone through as a people for 4000 years, so many tyrants under whom we have lived who have brutally mistreated us, to live in an an age when the leaders of the most powerful nation of the world care so deeply for this small people, as many presidents have, is amazing. It had a feeling of holiness to it -- of feeling God's words that "those that bless the childen of Israel will be blessed."

SISTER OF BUSH TELLS SOME HOME TRUTHS
Sarah Baxter, Washington
WHEN there are two presidents in the family and they are both called George, it is hard to know how to address them. For Doro Bush Koch, the daughter of George H and sister of George W, it is simple: one is called dad and the other Mr President.
Id feel funny calling the president George, Koch smiles. There is only one president and he is it. My dad taught us to treat the office with respect. Ill go back to George when hes not in office. Until then its Mr President, with affection.
Bush Sr also calls his son Mr President, out of pride. I think it was more emotional for me when George won, he told his daughter, who has emerged as the family historian with the publication next month of My Father, My President, an intensely loyal but remarkably thorough biography.

"MY FATHER, MY PRESIDENT", Doro Bush Koch

It goes beyond disrespect, IMO. It's provocation and baiting pure and simple, and could not be more blatant.
Thanks for tonight's Dose!
President Bush is going to be in B'ham on Thursday. Wish I could go and see him. :( But I am sure the fundraiser is sold out, not that I could afford it anyway.
