NRA-ILA Mix N' Mingle in St. Joseph Thursday, September 14 (Vanity - I was there)

This meeting was for Kansas City and Saint Joseph. This was the first NRA-ILA activism meeting I have ever attended, so I don't really have a reference point. That being said...

The NRA has put together a 13 minute movie on the gun confiscations during Katrina that is incedibly powerful. I hope they stream it so we can spread it around (unlike the LaPierre/Peters debate that we had to buy). This movie will convert moderate anti-gunners as well as motivate the 80 million gun owners who aren't NRA members and who don't vote. The NRA rep said the movie isn't available yet, but they will be using it in this election cycle. NRA, if you are reading, make this video free and you will reap benefits.

Senator Talent couldn't come because of his duties in DC. They say he will be at the Joplin meeting. In his stead, he sent a 25 year old kid with died black hair who had no presentation. He had a lot of signs and stickers, though, which were scarfed up.

The Missouri Republican Party sent a guy who also had no presentation.

Nobody told us Talent's position on the Second Ammendment. We all knew it, but it would have been nice to have a "sound bite" that we could sloganeer. There was no mention of Claire's stance, either. This information was provided in a packet of information for us to read.

Nobody mentioned any other pro-gun candidates on the ballot. Congressman Graves is an incumbent and is a very pro-gun, but not a peep. Missouri State Representative Jim Guest is A+ rated by ILA - no mention.

The two NRA-ILA representatives were under 30 and had a collective 4 years of experience with NRA. On the receiving side, I dare say the 100 or so folks in the room had at least 4000 years of experience. The presentation by the NRA-ILA representatives was meant to give us tasking and to let us know how we can help. Ask not what ILA can do for you, so to speak. It was a good presentation and offered some very good training on how we can target our campaigning to those who will be receptive.

Bottom line, we need Senator Talent to keep his seat. We need Congressman Graves and Jim Guest to keep their seats as well. I just put a blaze orange "NRA/ Sportsmen for Talent" sticker on my new car and a Talent/06 sign in my yard. I have a few stickers and signs to pass out and I intend to do so.

The fact that you have to ask is pretty sorry, huh?

Talentforsenate.com is a good place to start. Here is the link to dallas county representative.
