Maybe we'll learn differently, but it sounds like a nut job to me.

I hope he has nice long in the hospital jail.

Lemme guess, Amish? Most certainly sir. It was a renegade sect of the violent Amish Cult lead by a Jack Quaker with ties to George Bush, Dick Cheney, and sits on the Board of Directors of Halliburton /Sarc.

True enough that the emergency exits open inward, but the main door opens OUT! That would be a good way to down an airliner. Open the main door, let the airstream rip it off and then it smacks the wing/engine/tailplane. Yes but if you will look at those doors the next time you are on a plane you will see that they fit into a recess of the fuselage and in effect become part of the fuselage with literally tons of air pressure pushing on them outward. When that door is opened it goes inward first before rotating out. Arnold Swartzneger could not open that door when he was at the top of his game.

The next time I'm at National Aircraft's salvage yard in Tuscon, I'll take a look at one. Until then, unless it's a real emergency, I'll NOT be flying commercial any more!
I hated it before 9-11, and hate it more after. Not only do we have bad air, cramped seats, sorry drinks, and unruly passengers, but now we add grumpy security operators digging through luggage and searching whoever they wish to feel up.
Put me on a charter, or I'll fly with a friend in THEIR airplane.

Some really old aircraft did have doors that opened outward but we are talking about a non pressurized aircraft. Most of your present day light singles and twins have doors that open outward unless it is a pressurized aircraft.

Just be careful for understaffed and underslept control tower operators.

No kidding!
Most places we go, we call the "airport" on a cell, which activates the runway lights!
The rental car is sitting a waiting on us.

Every time I see a story like this, half of me wants to say "let her go if she wants to".The door will not open at pressurized altitude.

Yep; those are usually 'plug doors'. Sort of like a cork. When I was on KC-10's in the Air Force I seen a chart from McDonnell Douglas on the force against those doors at different psid's. Even at low altitudes I remember it being in the thousand of pounds.

It's just another isolated incident! (sing along kiddies!)

I am tired of hearing the phase "WE HAVE NOT HAD A TERORIST ATTACK SINCE 9/11" I say bull shit... we have had MSLIMS shooting people in LA, WA, and lets not forget DC (John Allen MOHAMMED) the SUV killing's in CA and CO? from well "crazy people">>> muslims... WTF
Back to retraining camp for you.
Now, repeat: These were not terrorist attacks. They were isolated incidents.
Again: These were not terrorist attacks. They were isolated incidents.

That would be a good way to down an airliner. Open the main door, let the airstream rip it off and then it smacks the wing/engine/tailplane.I beg to disagree.
On a commercial jet aircraft, each hinge on the door has two pivot points. The first allows the door to swing inwards several inches and to the right. The second pivot point allows the door to swing outward. The hinges are located on the forward side of the doorway opening. If the cabin is pressurized, you cannot exercize step one.
Take a peek the next time you fly first class and when you enter or exit the aircraft.
Cheers.
