Mark Warner Tops In State Poll (State Presidential Poll)
Daily Press ^ | 9/12/06

It would be the ultimate presidential matchup for Virginia political junkies: Sen. George Allen versus former Gov. Mark Warner.

A new poll shows Warner, a Democrat, would easily win red state Virginia over the GOP's Allen if the two faced off for the Oval Office.

"Mark Warner's stock has gone up and George Allen, his stock has gone down, obviously," said Brad Coker, managing director of Mason-Dixon Polling & Research.

Head to head, Warner would stomp Allen by 17 percentage points, 56 percent to 39 percent, according to the poll's measure of this increasingly unlikely scenario.

The poll, conducted last week and released Monday, shows that 54 percent of Virginians think Warner should run for president and that 56 percent would vote for him if he did. This is a bit of a gain in public opinion for him since last summer.

The same poll shows that only 37 percent of the state's voters believe Allen should run for president and that 39 percent would vote for him if he did. This is a significant loss in public opinion for the senator.

Both Warner and Allen have presidential ambitions. Warner has been crisscrossing the country, raising both money and his national profile as he lays the groundwork to try to capture the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination.

August 2005: Governor Mark Warner’s PAC hires Jerome "Raging Bull" Armstrong.

December 2005: Newsweek interviews Kos: Kos says, "The person to watch on the Democratic side for president is not Hillary Clinton, but Mark Warner."

June 2006: Daily Kos readers begin to ask why Warner, with all of his ties to the Kos archenemy of the Democratic Leadership Council, is getting such praise and warm welcome from Markos at Yearly Kos.

Warner has bought and paid for the help of Armstrong and Kos, those two are now his propagandists.

Since the Daily Press admits that such a match up is "an unlikely scenario", why even write a non news story about it?
Perhaps it's real purpose is to encourage some to think that Warner would be a far more popular choice as a presidential candidate than Hitlery?

Is it just me or does Warner look like Tony Robbins. Both of them creep me out.

Trade one addiction for another?

Wouldn't that be sort of like the Yankees vs. the Mets Worlds Series except duller?

Hillary gets the 'right' of the socialist, Dhimmicrat party. Warner, Bayh, Richardson, Biden, Edwards... these shmucks get stiff-armed into the cheapseats.

Gore, Kerry(LOL), Feingold... or a last minute jump by Dean gets the moonbat vote. This election... the moonbats won't bail on the Dean-type candidate like they did in 2004... the kooks are pi$$ed.

I believe when people actually voted and not some MSM poll, that Allen defeated Warner in a Senate race.

No. Allen and Warner have never run against each other.

1998 - Mark Warner challenged John Warner for the U.S. Senate and lost.

2000 - George Allen challenged Coke Robb for the U.S. Senate and won.

2001 - Mark Warner defeated Mark Earley for Governor.

George Allen's political instincts may not be too keen. Making up words that have no meaning but can be construed to be an insult to whiny minorities is a sign he is a light-weight.

Allen I think would beat Warner.

That Warner guy, though, is a real macaca.

You know I found it very interesting that the Jewish guy who had his throat cut in DC about a month ago "quit" his job working for a leftest organization in the UK to come here and "volunteer" to work on the "Warner campaign".

I also thought it interesting that the girl who was with him at the time was the "former babysitter" of Herb Miller, a big Dem in MD who happens to live in Herb's GTown townhouse while Herb lives in Annapolis. Humm.

Herb is also the one involved with the parking lot mess with the DC Stadium.

Interesting connections?
