I didn't know if there was a west coast version of this thread. It didn't make sense to post on a show that was almost over on the East Coast.

Thank you, nutmeg!

I'll use this as a placemarker for tomorrow.
I need my sleep. ;o)

Thank you, too, for watching this thread.
I know it's very late in the nutmeg state.

Saturday?! Why not show it Tuesday night? I mean, has ABC even started showing their new episides of shows yet? I don't think they have and if they haven't, they could just cancel reruns and show part 2 then. That's just stupid. Well I'm glad at least they're showing it. I hope it's not unbalanced the other way. It irks me that the seven months of Bush's pre-9-11 Presidency is always given more precedence then the EIGHT YEARS of Clinton's 9-11 Presidency. Beyond having only seven months to do anything, Bush's people had to jump through eight years of bureaucratic hoops set up by Clinton's people, AND the Democrats fighting him every step of the way in an evenly divided Senate. It's just totally illogical to say that 9-11 is more Bush's fault because it happened on "his watch". Well Vietnam started on Kennedy's watch, but the libs always blame Nixon for it. And like I said the other day. If the Captain of the Titanic had been releived of command just after the ship hit the iceberg, replaced by the first officer, would it be the first officer's fault that the ship went down hours later, or would it be the the Captain's fault, because he was the one who made most of the bad decisions most of the time before it happened that caused it to happen. No one in their right mind would blame the XO for something that was already in the process of happening. It took eight years to so screw up the intelligence industry in this country and ignore terrorism globally. Anyone who thinks Bush could have fixed it and detected the attacks and dealt with terrorism in seven months is just plainly an inbred moron.

Unknown at this time.

Must be antiwar, "progressive", low negatives, name recognition, etc.

History would point to a Governor, but who knows. Too early to tell. Watch for the puff pieces showing up on all the MSM outlets.

Just finished up and here are my observations:

1. Our enemy is not fooling around. They have been at this a lot longer than we have and they are determined and not afraid of death. This is spiritual for them. That was clearly and dramatically portrayed. I appreciated the fact that they took the time to show that there are indeed some Muslims who do not believe in what the terrorists are doing, even if they hate Israel and by extension the US. I believe there are more like that who are way to afraid to come forward.

2. There are thousands of heroic people in the field working their butts of every day to protect us. They get exasperated with the arrogance of the bureaucracy and the politicos. God bless the people on the ground. This film reminded me to give thanks for them, even though their names will never be known.

3. The Clinton administration was lawyer heavy. Everything that administration did, was seen through a legal lens. While I'm sure that President Bush's administration was just as incompetent pre-911, he was smart enough after the attack to dump the hyper-lawyering and use common sense.

4. Madeline Albright is an embarrassment to the United States, an arrogant, self-important, sneering, idiot. Sandy Berger is a man racked with fear and indecision. Of course, we already knew both of those things.

5. Clinton was not the President of the United States. He was the figurehead, he made public appearances, he raised money. But he is a lazy, risk adverse, popularity seeking, self-indulgent child better suited for the streets of Hollywood. He would rather talk than do, avoid than confront. Of course, we already knew that as well.

6. The Democrats have made a HUGE blunder regarding this film. If they had just shut up, the ratings would have been lower and, most important, people would have watched it thinking about the heroes vs. the evil terrorists. Instead, everyone concentrated on the behavior of the Democrats. The greatest irony is that I KNOW the names of the people involved and I could barely keep them straight. Non-political junkies would have seen them simply as "government people" and completely forgotten they were Democrats despite the titles. It's hilarious. By pointing this out, most people sat there and said, "Why sure enough, the Democrats ARE more interested in rights for terrorists than in getting the bad guys." HAHAHA. What idiots.

7. I'm looking forward to tomorrow night. It wasn't deep, it wasn't a documentary. But it told a good story, stuck pretty close to the truth...and I got used to the shaky camera about a third of the way through.

Ok...that's it. FWIW. See everyone tomorrow evening.

You know, I feel as you do. If this movie can wake people up to the nature of our enemies, then it is worth it.

Just watching a clip of Harry Reid saying that "this administration uses fear, fear, fear ....." ad nauseum.

We NEED to be afraid, for Pete's sake! These people want to KILL US!

I can only answer for myself (and I admit I am a fairly history aware person), but I tuned in late and didn't even know what actor was playing what role. The part I saw was absolutely RIVETING, irregardless of the fact that I didn't know exactly which historical character was speaking. Of course, there were some characters that were obvious, Albright, the troll, for example.

Boy, I remember it as well. I remember hearing about it, and standing in the Children's hospital looking out over the city wondering what was going to happen. My niece, who died a couple of weeks later, was in a room toward the top.

That was NOT a great season of joy in my family. We were all a little skittish on top of it, but to be honest, we had NO idea of just how big it could have been. It really didn't hit any of us until after 9/11.

Thank you. I've felt that way about it ever since it first became an issue. I liken it to the death penalty. I have yet to find a person who is totally against the death penalty in all cases who has had someone they love brutally murdered. And I have known people who were against the death penalty, and then when someone they love was murderd, they wanted death for the "so and so". That same kind of situational ethics applies with those who are so self righteous against physical means of extracting information as a absolute last resort when the clock is ticking. And as a historian, when I think of torture, I think of the Romans, the Ottomans, the Nazis, the Soviets, the Khmir Rouge, the NVA/Viet Cong. THEY, THEY were capable of real torture. Smacking some guy around, putting underwear on his head, having a dog bark at him, stripping him naked, hosing him down, depriving him of sleep. That's not torture. College punks do that every fall for kicks.

And to get to the bottom line of it, I would have no compunction beating the snot out of someone if he was a known terrorist and associate with those planning to carry out an imminent attack on the U.S.. I stress KNOWN TERRORIST, ASSOCIATE, and IMMINENT. Not some random act of smacking a guy around to see if you can get some generic non-specific info out of him for kicks. But when it's down to the wire, you know something's about to happen and you know the guy you have knows names, places, times, or all of the above. And by beating on him some, you can get those things out of him and stop that attack. I say with a clear conscience that I would stand before Christ Himself and say on bended knee, "I am sorry I had to do it, but to save innocent lives from death in an attack they didn't provoke, I felt I had to beat on this individual to get the information needed to stop the attack and save those innocent lives, children surely being among them." And I take that scenario VERY seriously when I say that. If smacking some sub-human terrorist around, causing him to bleed and bruise a little, saves lives, and stops an attack, well. Anyone who has a problem with that has their priorities way out of whack in my firmly held opinion.

I wonder if Disney edited only minimal pieces, but, uh, declined to defer to Clinton's demands for major cuts.

Perfect review, you pretty much nailed all the points I saw from this. But you know, if the Dems hadn't been squealing like the fat guy from "Deliverance" I probably wouldn't have watched it just because it was ABC...

Maybe the liberal shoe will drop tomorrow, dunno... but so far, I like...

Interesting that they showed the terrorists putting on red. That was the same thing that happened with Eqypt Air.

Interesting about Egypt Air. Time to look that up. And of course, in United 93 and the A&E movie, the hijackers donned red headbands.

Why is that a problem? See, the way I see it, it shouldn't matter to people of those that would die in the terrorist attack are loved ones are total strangers that you've never laid eyes on. To me, Americans are Americans. People are people. Humans are humans. If I have to mop the floor with some radical Islamo-Fascist to save some lives, Americans in this case, and by doing so, I get what is needed to save those lives, surely some of which would be children who have never harmed anyone, sobeit. And I'm talking just a good old fashioned butt kicking. No electro shock, no cutting devices, no bamboo shoots, nothing that causes permanent physical damage. Just fists and lots of bruising. That can get someone to talk and has in the past. And the thing with these radicals, they're not quite so fanatical or eager to get those virgins and bite the big one for Muhammed when it's their ox about to get gored. The past few years has proven that. You don't have to lay a glove on them to get them to talk in most cases. Just thinking that you're going to hurt them makes them sing. They're great Jihadists when it's others taking the fall. Anyway, I don't see any problem with what I said before. I guess it just depends on what value individuals have on life. Clearly the people who are against any and all physical means of extracting actionable intelligence as a last means with little time remaining don't value life as much as I do. To me it's just that simple. If bruising one person, stops the DEATH of countless others, I'm good with that, and I'd sleep like a baby after the fact, and do it again the next day with a smile.

No action that results in more hearts beating at the end of the day then would be without that action is a bad thing. If you can save lives without taking any, that's a win win by any unbiased account. And at the VERY least these Islamo-fascist terrorists deserve to be hit at least a few times. They have at LEAST that much coming for believing the way they do and being that willing to take innocent live for no reason.

I didn't even attempt to watch any of it. It would irritate me before bed. Their spin doesn't undo the facts of eight years of Clinton inaction. And people will praise the parts bashing Bush. Well if that part is true, then the parts about Clinton are true. They can't have it both ways, and Clintons eight years FAR outweighs the Bush seven months, which was compounded by having to jump through eight years of Clinton hoops to do anything.

It's going to hurt tomorrow from what I've heard.

However, the BIG difference is that once 9/11 happened, we took responsibility, stood up and are working hard to do what needs to be done despite the political fallout. (Anyone who thinks the President makes decisions designed to make him popular needs to spend more time poll-gazing.)

The Democrats are still checking with their lawyers. ;-)

And, ABC's follow up commentary with Terry Moron from Afghanistan will, I'm sure, be very objective.. NOT!

It wasn't.

To me, Americans are Americans. People are people. Humans are humans.

People are going to flame me for this, but it bothered me a LOT when they started shooting at Clinton in the training camp. That was a really weird sensation to be sure. LOL.

I guess it really does stop at the border.

You asked -- "Why is that a problem?"

It's not a problem, as long as I get to do it to you, whenever I get suspicious that you know something which will protect my family.

I'm starting to suspect that you're one of those Islamo-fascists who has just been recruited to masquerade as an "American" in order to penetrate our defenses. If I just I had some "time" with you -- I might get you to confess.

And, you know..., whenever I get one of those "hunches" -- I'm usually right. The way I see it, it's well worth trying out my skills on you, just to save a few thousand lives.

Regards,
Star Traveler
