New Orleans Suffers From New Blast of Violence
The Bayou Buzz ^ | 9/10/2006 | Staff

New Orleans has been hit by another rash of violence this weekend. In the past 24 hours, there have been 8 shootings.

The shootings are occurring in areas that are away from the tourist areas.

In a press conference, two weeks ago, Chief Warren Riley said the City was deploying some methods that were confidential to reduce crime. However, he would not discuss those methods in fear that those secrets would be revealed and the criminals would not be deterred once they were armed with knowledge.

New Orleans is seeing more crime due to some of its former residents returning and due to drug trade. Some of the crime has been domestic, in nature. Part of the problem for the high return of the crime rate is the entire criminal justice system is in shambles.

Next Saturday, the City will hold a Crime summit. The purpose is to take a holistic approach of the problem but devise specific solutions. With eight shootings in 24 hours, New Orleans needs solutions, fast.

The first solution should be to end corruption in the government.

Is the secret that NOPD officers are still in Vegas on the FEMA dime?

This just goes to show they are not taking the problem seriously.

LOL I bet John Kerry has a hand in this plan.

Uh, yeah, that's what confidential means. Looks like the "staff writers" felt the need to elaborate ;)

Maybe freeing all of the prisoners from jails and penetentary before Katrina has something to do with it?

Naw, Bush's fault.

And does anyone know why NOLA took itself out of the running for the Dem Convention in '08? Haven't heard much press about that (gee, wonder why?), and I was wondering if NOLA volunteered or if they were told to do it?

"Get out of New Orleans NOW!!!"

I live a short distance from New Orleans - maybe 50 miles -and haven't been back to NOLA since I retired from the Michoud Assembly Facility in east NOLA in 1999. No reason to go back and just too dangerous.

I was always thankful that, when I was working, I never had to go any deeper into the city that East NOLA.

I recall an incident that happened when a colleague and I were working on an engineering project late into the evening. We were startled to hear the sound of a basketball hitting the side of the building. We killed the lights, looked outside and saw a gathering of teenage boys. (I'll not put a demographic face on that gathering just use your imagination.) They had to have known that work was going on in our location.

We closed the blinds and continued working, but I had a very uneasy feeling after that.

The violence in New Orleans not a problem that can be solved. It is innate.

I don't think it is funny. I do wonder though when the Democrat politicians will call for a pull out from NOLA?

It is a sad affair and I pray for your safety.

What you see in New Orleans is the gift that Democrat Ray Nagin and the Democrat Congressional Black Caucus have bestowed upon NOLA, much like they have done with Detroit and Cleveland. You now get an idea that America will be turned into a third world country by these incompetents Black leaders. There are so many talented Black folk. It is a crying shame that Blacks let these criminals lead them around in economic bondage and slavery while CBC members like felon William Jefferson fill their pockets with ill gotten riches while doing zilch for the community.

Believe me when I say it is not funny, it is tragic, when I sat in Houston at a friends home and whatched my home being destroyed, it was not only from the flood water, the waters showed what was the belly of the beast and what we had all been living in for years, we knew, but most had given up on changing anything, it is innate, but it is our home, what do you do?????
