Thousands of students from Saudi Arabia are enrolling on college campuses across the United States this semester under a new educational exchange program brokered by President Bush and Saudi King Abdullah.
The program will quintuple the number of Saudi students and scholars here by the academic year's end. And big, public universities from Florida to the Kansas plains are in a fierce competition for their tuition dollars.
The kingdom's royal family which is paying full scholarships for most of the 15,000 students says the program will help stem unrest at home by schooling the country's brightest in the American tradition. The U.S. State Department sees the exchange as a way to build ties with future Saudi leaders and young scholars at a time of unsteady relations with the Muslim world.
Administrators at Kansas State University, an agricultural school surrounded by miles of prairie grass, say the scholarships are a bonanza for public education.
"The Saudi scholarship program has definitely heightened our interest in that part of the world," said Kenneth Holland, associate provost for international programs. "Not only are the students fully funded, but they're also paying out-of-state tuition."
Kansas State has boosted efforts to court Saudi officials in the last year, flying administrators and department heads to the Saudi embassy in Washington. It's paid off: last month about 150 Saudi students started classes there, each funded to the tune of about $31,000.

We're importing more of these animals when we should be interring them!!!
I guess we've forgotten about 9/11?
This is very worrisome. Whatever are we thinking? National suicide?
I'm taking my wife today to pick out burkahs.
I have no problem with bringing them here for education. What I object to is having them educated in our extremist universities by the Hate America professors. That's the worst thing we can do for foreign relations is bring them into our colleges. Look at what they do to our own youth, how do we expect to keep foreigners from hating us when they are surrounded by Americans who hate us?
Maybe after we've schooled them in Western civilization they'll kill us later rather than sooner. Who said Bush wasn't a forward thinker? Oh wait. Our schools stopped teaching the benefits of western civ forty years ago. What do you get when you cross Mohammed and Marx?
Muslim communities belong in Muslim countries.
Make sure you pick something out to go with her eyes.
John Kerry
How about education in chemisty, biological sciences, and nuclear physics?
The Saudi's pour millions into the "Middle East Studies" departments at US universities.
They like to turn out worker bees who go on to work at the US State Department, the US Information Agency, the "news" media-----spreading the muslim talking points.
Check sometime and see how much money Saudi Arabia gives the "Middle East Studies" department at Georgetown University in Washington DC.
The "professors" from these departments appear constantly as "experts" on the Middle East on Ted Koppel type US media shows.
And of course they ALWAYS sell the muslim line.
The "professors" also write books which are widely circulated and quoted in the media and in academia.
Interestingly, these "professors" and their books ALWAYS push the muslim line.
WTF?

Well, that'll be up to the terrorists who run our country in the near future. Marx may look pretty good compared to Shari Law and it's system.
Great, Chemistry class and fertilizer.
"Elizabeth, can you hear me hun? I'm comin' to ya. It won't be long."
I like the ones with just a touch of lace at the ankles.
They're buying their way into America. WE LOVE money here ... .
"What do you get when you cross Mohammed and Marx?"
The US State Department?
