Second-best possible outcome.

Found with his gun in his mouth, best possible outcome.

The men of my family are all retired (in the case of my grandfather, deceased) but coming from 3 generations of NYPD.........

What a great and proud family tradition. OTH I'm doing what I can to keep my boys away from police work...not that I'd stop them or could I suppose...but thats down the road a bit

Believe me, I do understand. My mother did everything she could to keep my brother from joining NYPD........she even dragged me into it and when I went back to Brooklyn that year for Cristmas practically begged me to "try and talk some sense into him" and talk him out of it. I told her, in front of him, that since he never paid me nonevermind while we were growing up, why did she think he would pay attention to anything I said (at that time)???

He wound up being a great cop. He was retired out after 18 years because of a line of duty injury. He and I never really got along, but I will give credit where credit is due. Every story I know about situations he handled came from elsewhere, he rarely talked about, and never bragged abuot, things he had done.

On my department we have about 5 sets of father and sons on a department of close to 400. We only have a population of 200,000 so were not exactly NYPD but that struck me as on the high end. I told my older son that the fire deaprtment was the way to go. How can you beat barbeques and catching your favorite TV shows at work...8>) Actually we love our fire department. Well some of us do.
