A bunch of us should e-mail this to whoever is our fav. talk show host(s).
Well at least they aren't using their money like the Jersey girls are, promulgating every 9/11 tinfoil conspiracy theory there is.
"One of the 9/11 widows in the office of her lawyer."
Heck of a sentence there, Nicole & NYT editors...
(Gotta have something to laugh at!)
Oh yeah. Nailed it. Much better
"if you are ILLEGALLY in this country, you are NOT protected by the Constitution"
So, if a German tourist visits New York, he is not protected by the Constitution, such as his freedom of expressing his religion... etc..???
Wah?
No, I said here "illegally". A German tourist would be here with a passport, a legal entry permit, and would not be an invader. His protection is afforded as a courtesy, since he has NOT broken the law by his actions, and would be afforded legal protection while in this country.
I millionaire can live like a billionaire in mexico. Go back to where you came from and take all your cousins and compadre's with you.
this is to everyone above - thanks for the replies - just the responses I was expecting and I agree with everyone here
I was surprised that the story hadn't been posted earlier and when I heard about it on the radio, I logged in to FR expecting to see multiple posts....

A. The NY Times story seems to imply that they do. If this isn't true, why not call their bluff on it.
B. Nobody paid taxes on the 9/11 settlements.
Sympathy? Because it's the spirit of what America is.
Yes, isn't that a good reason??
We're talking about women who lost their husbands in a horrible terrorist attack; I think that showing compassion and letting them stay in the country and become U.S. citizens is fine. That seems more in the spirit of America than your heartless suggestion.
My sympathy lies on those immigrants who stood on line, paid the price and followed the rules to get into a country that they felt offered them something better. They then educated themselves on our history, they forbade that the native language be spoken at home, so the kids could fit in, they then stood before a judge and swore allegiance to their new home.
They then took pride in being a citizen. They then framed their citizenship papers and hung it on the wall. They then would point to it and tell their grandchildren what being an American meant. They then stood there with tears in their eyes as they pointed to those now yellowed papers and declared that we children did not know how lucky we are.
At the time, as a child, I did not fully understand what they went through, but now that I do, my sympathy lies with them. Not with the border jumpers.
Sorry if my level of sympathy does not rise to yours.
Okay... Perhaps you should tell that to these widows on national T.V. and see how it goes over. I'd suspect you'd get booed off the stage even on Fox News. There should be an exception made to the rules in this situation; it's in the spirit of the law.
