2nd-Annual, Pro-life Memorial Day will be Observed on Monday, October 2, 2006

Pro-Life Memorial Day

Did you know that since January 22, 1973 over 46,000,000 babies have been aborted?  That's one baby ever 24 seconds.  For every two babies born, one is surgically aborted.  That's one-third of our generation, and the next.

Did you know that there isn't one day set aside to remember the victims of America's hidden holocaust?  That's why American Life League has established the first ever Pro-life Memorial Day on the first Monday of every October.

On Monday, October 2, join us in honoring the 47,000,000 young lives lost to surgical abortion since the Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling that decriminalized the killing of innocent preborn children.

So what can you do on Pro-life Memorial Day (Oct. 2) to remember the innocent lives lost to abortion? Here are three ideas:

  1. Gather for prayer at the flagpole before school starts
  2. Stand peacefully at your local Planned Parenthood abortion mill or other abortion business
  3. Arrange a candlelight vigil at some common gathering area (like a public park). Join together from 7:30-8:30 p.m. your local time.

Would you help us make Pro-life Memorial Day a huge success? Would you hand out some flyers to all your friends and family? Would you plaster posters at your church or campus?

If so, visit www.ProlifeMemorialDay.com to download flyers, posters and to get more information on how to get involved. If you have any additional plans, let us know. Many are getting their priests and pastors involved by mentioning Pro-life Memorial Day from the pulpit.

A number of Christian leaders and organizations including Rev. Jerry Falwell, Santa Fe Archbishop Michael Sheehan, Buffalo Bishop Edward Kmiec, and Wilmington Bishop Michael Saltarelli have shown their support by officially endorsing Pro-life Memorial Day. You can check out Rev. Falwell’s column endorsing Pro-life Memorial Day by clicking here. Also, Sonicflood has been promoting Pro-life Memorial Day in the news section of their web site. Check it out at www.SonicFlood.com.

Life Chain is on Sunday October 1. It is a nation wide event. It is prayerful protest for 1 hour. Locally it is 2-3PM CST at our Parish. See the link to find one in your area.

We have a slight problem in Pennsylvania.

Tomorrow, Oct 1 is Pro Life Sunday in the Catholic Church. At 1 PM to 2 PM we are also having a Life Chain in our mid town.

Monday, Oct 2 is the Pennsylvania Pro Life Federation Annual Dinner with Bishop Rhodes speaking.

Someway, somehow these events should be coordinated.

The problem is that the same people participate in each event and the people can only do one at a time.

Someone has also suggested prayer vigils on election day.
