BATH Tax reform crusader Carol Palesky was sentenced Thursday to 16 months in prison for stealing $41,000 from one of her accounting clients.
Tax reform crusader Carol Palesky is going to jail. In Sagadahoc Superior Court on Thursday afternoon, Justice Thomas Delahanty sentenced Palesky, 66, of Topsham, to 16 months in jail on the charge of theft by misapplication.
Last month, Palesky pleaded guilty to taking $41,000 from D.S. Stoddard Inc., a Brunswick painting and maintenance company for which she had done accounting work. Rejecting arguments from her attorney that Palesky is too frail to cope with incarceration, Delahanty sentenced Palesky to 16 months in the state corrections system, three years probation and to pay restitituion.
For the complete story, including a summary of allegations made by the Attorney General's Office that Palesky used some of the stolen money to fund the campaign to pass a tax cap in Maine.
She was only trying to illustrate the inherent larceny of taxation.
It was Performance Art.
Y'see.
Prisons have Doctors.
You may be right. Pity that the rest of us will have to make up for it. heh!
And they can take care of her very well. If that were you or me, Maine would lock us up and throw away the key!
I always thought there was something off about this woman. Remember she forged some signatures on her tax reform petitions?
Put her in jail with the child molester who was too short to go to prison.
I KNEW her name sounded familiar! Thanks metesky. Hmmmmm Might be a lot of layers to this woman. Maybe someone should start peeling!
OMG! Got to laugh to keep from crying. Did you see that little guy? He is suing the prison, saying the guards made him "climb up on the sink to shave," and he fell off. LOL! I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound callous, but my gosh! Now this little dwarf is suing the prison. What a world.....
I had not heard about him suing the prison. America --- whatta country.

He's a little dwarf and said the guards didn't give him a stool to help him reach the sink. So when he "climbed up," he fell off and hurt himself.
Wonder what he will do with the money if he wins the case? hee!
