Ernesto is poised to emerge into Atlantic waters after feebly creeping along the Florida peninsula. Media pundits with tremulous cameras dotted Florida's extensive coastline for the past 24 hours, showing video of children playing in the sand, dark skies, and occasional rain.
Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect from Sebastian Inlet Florida to Cape Lookout North Carolina, as Ernesto moves north at 15mph. The storm's intensity and forecast track has puzzled forecasters for several days.
N.C. Governor Mike Easley and S.C. Governor Mark Sanford activated the National Guard today in their respective states, as the forecast track indicated Ernesto may regain tropical storm force winds, and make landfall again along the Carolinas coastline.

lol - thanks for making me laugh this morning!
FWIW, Joe Bastardi has been screaming all week that this is a Carolina's storm. He says it could be as much as a Cat 2 by landfall. I kind of doubt a 2, but a 1 looks probable to me. It looks to be getting some organization.
Hope the "disappointment" the media has messaged about Ernesto in Florida doesn't cause the folks in the Carolina's to turn their back.
They are not forecasting it to intensify to hurricane strength, and are sticking with TS warnings.
That's what happens when you overhype - people don't listen to you, even if you end up being right on occassion.
There are two dangers now with Ernesto:
A couple of idiots not taking a strong tropical storm seriously and get killed when trees fall on them when they finally have to run outside and grab the trash cans blowing down the street that they neglected to bring inside, and
Inland flooding.
Eerie clam:
An unusually tranquil yet surreal time when the west side of a tropical depression delivers less rain and wind than forecast. The most recent example of the rare eerie clam was observed by NautiNurse during TS Ernesto on August 30, 2006, in Florida.
Side effects of eerie clams include tropical depression, especially among the MSM, along with bloodshot eyes, elevated blood pressure, and pining for last year's hurricane season to please, please, PLEASE repeat itself before the ratings go in the toilet. Antidotes include a bad hurricane along the Mexican coast and another white chick disappearing while on vacation.
Here's a visible of Ernesto. Lots of high tops in east heading towards Carolinas.
If the media knew just what a disservice this was.....well, they'd still do it.
I'm betting hurricane watches are up by noon.
Hmmm...the runway takes up most of the atoll.
good morning; I really don't think John with make it up the gulf, the High pressure that is over the western states, will keep it to the west.

Is that the guy Sean Hanity had on his show the last couple days? What a crack pot!
Let's see how much sympathy is generated IF bad boy "John" hits Cabo San Lucus..and wipes out those million dollar beach homes rich Americans 'think' they own in Mexico..

I'm sure you have had a dozen replies by now,but what the heck. Wake Island from what I've heard is 18ft at the highest level. Which means it will vanish at the height of the storm.
it's about to destroy Cabo
darlin there's no link...
It's supposed to be 68.. for a water temperature, because we'll be under water! :P
