Its hardly focus tested. ALlen has been using that line since he ran for delegate in the 1980s. he didn't exactly have the resources to run around and focus test it like b ush did compassionate conservatism. He truly beleives in it. Jeffersonian conservatism just means limited government and keep the government out of every day nanny state sort of thing.

I hope your right. But is support for the abortion causing drug Plan B and his habit of saying and doing stupid things again and again and again proves he is not ready for a run for the Whitehouse. He is better than Webb but that being said he is not very bright
To: npg
You can say that again! He called a young Indian man Macaca in a room filled with Lilly white republicans. As a lilly white republican I call that pretty stupid. Not to mention bragging about owning stock in Barr the makers of the abortion causing drug Plan B. In newsmax a few months ago he came out in support of abortion for fetal deformity's.
He may be better than webb
To: kaktuskid
Of course not. Republicans should be held to a higher standard than democrats. Allen has missed the mark. He is turning into a real joke!
To: Hawaiijason
yeah, he's been a good trooper in the Senate, his dad was a great coach, but that's all.
I don't think he is a good nominee.
Although I knew how silly W. could be, he still seemed Presidential to me.

After his Macaca comment... bragging about owning stock in Barr the maker of the abortion-causing drug plan B and coming out in support of abortion for children with fetal abnormalities he is finished. Allen is out for )* and he should count himself lucky if he wins in November. If I worked for Allen I would put an application in at Barr ASAP

damaged goods ? yep ....toast
To: kaktuskid
I was about to ask if the Nation had asked Senator Byrd for his opinions on the matter!

They must really be terrified on Allen to go THIS far trying to destroy him. Has Hillary been alarmed enough by internal polls vs Allen to unleash her media supplicants?
To: montag813
from what I hear McCain is funneling money to his opponent Webb. I like watching pro-abort RINO's fight it out. Allen has done himself in Hillary has nothing to worry about from Allen. When he is not bragging about owning stock in the makers of Plan B he is flinging racial slurs. A few months ago in newsmax he came out in support of aborting children with fetal deformitiesAllen is out for 08.

Has Hillary been alarmed enough by internal polls vs Allen to unleash her media supplicants? In an article earlier this summer Kathleen Parker said Allen was the one Hillary is afraid of.

"And not a word on the KuKluxKlown Senator Byrd"
Byrd isn't running for President.
Allen's problems are 0 to ten years back.
Byrd's much more than that.
Allen has been hurt by these episodes.

My guess is that just some guys walked up and asked to take a picture. I'm assuming the same.
Riley over at Virginia Virtucon has pretty much the same take on it.
And he adds:
UPDATE: When the Southern Poverty Law Center uncovered the racist views of the Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC) in 1998 (2 years AFTER the Allen photograph was taken), CPAC labeled CCC a racist organization and barred them from all events. The SPLC has tracked elected officials who have met with CCC following this designation and George Allen is NOT among them.
There is an all out leftist assault on Allen that was planned well before the macaca comment. That just gave them their opening.

Let 'em continue. It just made me request a couple of Allen bumper stickers and volunteer for his campaign. I urge others to follow suit.

To: Corin Stormhands
The fact that we have to defend George Allen on THIS board is nothing short of frightening.
