New Orleans District Attorney Eddie Jordan bristled at criticism and walked out of an ABC News Nightline interview when told that law enforcement officials were critical of Jordan's handling of his office.
ABC News' Brian Ross interviewed Jordan earlier today as part of a report examining the state of the New Orleans justice system one year after Katrina, to be broadcast on Nightline later tonight.
Since last year's hurricane, there has been growing criticism of Jordan's office by senior people in law enforcement who say, even with the acknowledged problems caused by Katrina, the District Attorney has not efficiently dealt with a huge backlog of cases, estimated at more than 3,000.
Jordan told Ross his questions were "stupid," when Ross asked Jordan to respond to a comment made by U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales in an ABC News interview earlier this week. "You need to have an effective police department, you need to have the courts operating effectively, you need to have a local prosecutor who is doing his job," he said.
Brian Ross: Do you think he's talking about you?
Eddie Jordan: No, because we're doing our job and I have the evidence to support it.
Brian Ross: You don't take this then as a criticism from Washington?
Eddie Jordan: I don't take this as a criticism from Washington because, as I've said before, we are taking care of our responsibility. This is ignorance and stupidity on the part of people who don't know how our system works.
At that point, Jordan's aide stepped in front of the cameras and announced she was ending the interview.
At that point, Jordon protested that Ross' questions were "stupid."
Brian Ross: They are honest questions, sir.
Eddie Jordan: They're stupid; they're not honest questions.
How to put New Orleans on the road to recovery...
Step Number One: Make the stupid politicians shut up.

Ooops, hard questions? Blame it on racism. When asked about a broken system, blame people who "don't know the system" and racism. Caught in lies, just walk out because it doesn't matter to the people who reelect politicians who continue to dip into their neighbors pockets because they're all racists and deserve to continue to pay - forever.

After Mayor Ray Nagin called Ground Zero just "a hole in the ground" and city council president Oliver Thomas slept through his appearance on Fox News Sunday, New Orleans city officials are now batting 0 for 3.
I know I am on one Louisiana ping list. Do you have one as well or is that the same one I am thinking of? If not, please add me.
That said, don't give up on New Orleans, people! There a LOT of good people down there doing the best they can. Try not to judge a book by its cover.
What ever happened to the question of many LEO's on the New Orleans payroll that were non existant persons.. meaning they didn't exist.. You know.. the payroll padded for payoffs..
Is that just normal Lousiana corruption or corruption on much larger scale?...
Even New Jersey couldn't get away with that, (I don't think)..

These must be those special qualities Brian Williams' interview guest was talking about last night on Nightly News.
You really have to see the tape of the interveiw. A print transcript does not do justice to the moranic behaivor of the DA and his aide.
I would say that NOLA is in one mell of a hess!!!!!
If you said either 'there are a lot of good people in south Louisiana' or 'there are a few good people in New Orleans' I'd be able to agree with you. But your original statement is going to be a tough sell in Texas.
