Sen. Joseph Biden (news, bio, voting record) says he can hold his own in a 2008 presidential primary against Democratic contenders from the South, noting that his home state of Delaware was a "slave state."
Biden dismissed the notion that he was a "Northeastern liberal" who would have a poor showing in the South against other likely contenders such as Virginia Gov. Mark Warner and former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina, the 2004 Democratic vice presidential nominee.
"Better than anybody else," Biden said, when asked on "Fox News Sunday" to rate his chances of winning Southern states.
"You don't know my state," he said. "My state was a slave state. My state is a border state. My state has the eighth-largest black population in the country. My state is anything from a Northeast liberal state."

Here is a liberal BRAGGING that his little state was a slave state. Will his campaign literature feature racially derogatory cartoons of Secretary of State Rice? Is one of his staffers, as we speak, harvesting racial insults from the Arab press? Maybe one of his ancestors actually owned slaves. That would apparently catapult him ahead of Madame Hillary.

His state was a "slave state" he really said that in the context of it being a plus for him getting the southern Bubba vote? I think they have some NASCAR races in DE too, did he think to mention that? We've been out camping the last several days with no TV reception and so I missed that (that's pretty much all I regretted, not getting FNS), but I usually ignore Biden when they put him on the talking head shows so I probably would have missed it anyway. Was he wearing his clown suit today?
