'Wild Woman' guilty of java toss at aide (NY Srate Senator)
NY Daily News ^ | August 26, 2006

State Sen. Ada Smith - the Wild Woman of Albany - was convicted yesterday of throwing coffee at an aide. The Queens Democrat had denied the assault and rejected an offer of a plea deal.

She was convicted by Albany City Judge William Carter after a nonjury trial.

Smith will not serve jail time, but was required to pay a $250 fine and restitution to be determined by Sept. 29.

She was accused of throwing the coffee in the eyes of then-staffer Jennifer Jackson of Albany in March after Jackson made a remark about the senator's attempt to lose weight.

According to court documents, Smith also pulled a hairpiece from Jackson's head. Jackson said she suffered injuries to her corneas, neck and shoulder.

Smith was originally charged with misdemeanor assault, but the charge was reduced to harassment in July.

Jackson said she was satisfied with the court's decision.

Senate Minority Leader David Paterson stripped Smith of a $9,500 annual stipend and use of a Democratic Party car earlier this year, saying she "has abused members of the staff."

In 1998, Smith was accused of biting the hand of a Brooklyn police officer. She was fined in 2001 for failing to obey a direct order from a police officer after improperly driving through a security checkpoint at Empire State Plaza.

So this is why the Dems don't want to fight the war. They prefer to take their agression out on co-workers.

Was she is trying to become a northern version of McKinney?

Too bad she didn't throw coffee on a security guard. She would have gotten away with it.....a la McKinney.
