I've seen another ingenious solution, in Thailand itself.

I've seen street food vendors attach 5 to 6 small tape-recorder motors on a wooden beam, below the ceiling of the stall.

The motors have pieces of stiff string/ twine attached. As the motor spins, these attached pieces twirl about.

Never saw that before. SOunds pretty cool. It's like no fly strips fan.
