The handover of the Camp Abu Naji was coordinated with the Amarah authorities 24 hours in advance
Doesn't bloody sound like advance coordination to me.

The british have a history of this stupidity in the region, the Taggert Forts come to mind.

I am surprised, Arabs are thieves?

There was a signoff and a handover. Looks like the Iraquis dropped the ball on this one.

We are truly foolish if we think we are going to leave Iraq in any sort of orderly state. What a bunch of hooligans. And their army is completely worthless.

Shortly after the troops pulled out, Iraqi police managed to disperse looters by firing warning shots into the air, I'm surprised they didn't think it was a wedding..

Same thing happened when the US closed bases in the Philippines.

Heck, looting is comman in any city in the US
Atlanta is worse on any Saturday night.
New Orleans during the hurricane last year became a city of looters.

This happens everywhere the West builds a base and leaves.
I happened to be at Dong Tam, former home of the 9th Inf Division (US) the day it was turned over to the ARVN.
All day ARVN trucks pulled in and EVERYTHING, plumbing, wire, fixtures, window frames, everything flew out the windows, onto the trucks and out the front gate.
Iraq is looking more like Nam every day.

"Iraqis loot base after British leave"
This is but one example of a truism that those in power should have known: NATION BUILDING IN TURD WORLD NATIONS CANNOT SUCCEED!!!!
To: Marius3188
When asked by a reporter why he was taking material from the base, one man, who refused to give his name, said: "This is war loot and we are allowed to take it." Iraqis have liberals too? Sounds just like the lame justifcations OUR liberals provide.
