SPIEGEL INTERVIEW WITH JIMMY CARTER
SPIEGEL ONLINE ^ | 08/15/2006 | SPIEGEL

"The US and Israel Stand Alone"

Former US president Jimmy Carter speaks with DER SPIEGEL about the danger posed to American values by George W. Bush, the difficult situation in the Middle East and Cuba's ailing Fidel Castro.

SPIEGEL: Mr. Carter, in your new book you write that only the American people can ensure that the US government returns to the country's old moral principles. Are you suggesting that the current US administration of George W. Bush of acting immorally?

Carter: There's no doubt that this administration has made a radical and unpressured departure from the basic policies of all previous administrations including those of both Republican and Democratic presidents.

SPIEGEL: For example?

Carter: Under all of its predecessors there was a commitment to peace instead of preemptive war. Our country always had a policy of not going to war unless our own security was directly threatened and now we have a new policy of going to war on a preemptive basis. Another very serious departure from past policies is the separation of church and state, which I describe in the book. This has been a policy since the time of Thomas Jefferson and my own religious beliefs are compatible with this. The other principle that I described in the book is basic justice. We've never had an administration before that so overtly and clearly and consistently passed tax reform bills that were uniquely targeted to benefit the richest people in our country at the expense or the detriment of the working families of America.

Jimmy grows more delusional over time. He says that the separation of church and state is greater than ever. Excuse me, but that is your liberal party driving that. Besides I don't think Bill and Hill were much into going to church.

Then he claims that tax cuts for wealthy people is at the expense of working families. Exactly how many poor people have not been funded because of a lack of tax revenues? Oh yeh, there hasn't been a lack of revenues. Funding for social programs has grown every year.

Just sickens me that the world sees Carter as one of our great leaders.

"Our country always had a policy of not going to war unless our own security was directly threatened . . . "

Except in WWI, Korea, Vietnam, and Kosovo, to name a few. Jimmuh needs a history lesson.

I was shocked yesterday when I heard some correspondent say that BJ Klinton still gets national security briefings.

If so, is this POS anti-American RAT also getting National Security briefings?

That he does. Liberals always conveniently forget things that hinder their argument. Time to put Mr. Peanut out of our misery.

Former US president Jimmy Carter: "I don't think that Israel has any legal or moral justification for their massive bombing of the entire nation of Lebanon."

Poor GWB. His administration not only has to put up with the Clintonians, but with the peanut-sized brained socialist Carter as well.

GHWB probably does as well. All past presidents get some amount of information not available to the public. These men are still on the government dole, and still help influence policy.

Carter has used the world as his toilet paper since the 70s.

Georgians, aren't you proud.

1980

1984

The ONLY worthwhile legacy of Carter's presidency is that he mucked things up so bad that even New York and Massachusetts voted for Reagan for the next two elections.

Interviewing Jimmy Carter about foreign policy is like going to Typhoid Mary for advice on sanitation.

"These men are still on the government dole, and still help influence policy."

Then this policy is a double edged sword. Here is an example of an ex-President doing what he can to ensure our loss in a time of war.

I heard that comment regarding the bombing of all of Lebanon yesterday. My immiediate thought was that Israel did not bomb the whole nation. It bombed selected areas of the nation.

This man is as ignorant today as he was when he ushered in Irans present government. Thanks Jimmy. It's sure great to know we have an enemy hell bent on developing nuclear weapons and destroying Israel and the U.S. I mean, what did we need with an ally in the region?

Carter, the massively FAILED President, gutless, spineless, handwringing, panerding liberal who could not have conducted a war if all our lives depended on it.

A pathetic, yet typical, leftist -- the epitome of weakness and liberal utopianism. Failure after failure and this jerk has the audacity to criticize Bush for at least trying and getting some results.

The libs do not see their failures or their impotence and incompetence. They are never wrong. Their frame of reference for right and wrong changes daily to suit their useless, pathetic existence.

This from the failure of a president who was thrown out of office during the hostage crisis?

Jimmy Carter's mother Lillian said it all when it came to son Jimmie - "Sometimes when I look at all my children, I say to myself, "Lillian, you should have stayed a virgin."
