BJP prods India to attack Pakistan

NEW DELHI, Aug 12: India’s main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s government to “attack Pakistan and Bangladesh” to dismantle alleged terrorist camps.

“I demand that after taking the international community into confidence, India attack Pakistan to dismantle terrorist centres,” BJP President Rajnath Singh was quoted by Press Trust of India as telling reporters in the western port city of Panaji.

“Not only Pakistan but Bangladesh should also be attacked where terrorist centres are operating,” he added.

Refusing to name the ‘international community’ he had in mind, Mr Singh said international support should be garnered before such attacks.

On the contrary, former foreign minister Jaswant Singh, the BJP’s chief leader in the Rajya Sabha, had pointedly rejected the idea of ‘hot pursuit’ against Pakistan in response to the Mumbai tragedy.

The BJP president’s comments came as India stepped up security across the country ahead of Independence Day after intelligence inputs indicated terrorist plans to disrupt the celebrations.

Hersh is probably relegated to the bathtub and his rubber duckie for the next few weeks, until they need to pull him out, dry him off and let him write another whack-a-doo article.

Blub blub...

Although many of the Indian freepers object to this, and they could be correct, the BJP is commonly stereotyped as being a racist, caste-system political group, even if they are conservative in some areas.

If this is the case, then they are not a people to be supported.

Also, while the Pakistani citizenry is probably very much against the United States, and probably India even more, President Musharaff has been an ally of the United States, even with threat to him.

Yeah, just like the Republican Party is streotyped as being a racist, religious fundamentalist group by the commie nutbags. Streotypes mean nothing. The BJP is probably the most rational of all political parties in South Asia, especially their take-no-shit-from-jihadist foreign policy. There are however some loons within their ranks.

1) You have some gall to say India is even more anti-US than than Pakistanis. Where are the stats that support this. What's your propaganda dude? If you don't like Indians then stick to tthat. Don't give us useless sh*t that you don't care to substantiate.

2) The BJP is a what? A casteist-communalist organization? What is FR with terms like 'Islamonazis' and 'Islamofascists'? The idea is the same, the BJP doesn't like taking shit and neither do people on FR. You are painting us all with the same brush here if you freely throw adjectives around. I suggest you make your arguments stronger and the next time you try to put up something as radical as that, I suggest you come up with facts to support your statement. Especially the ones on India being anti-US.

Ok, read your post another time. I'll clarify the part on BJP.

BJP stands for the good of the majority of the Indian people. They are pro-Hindu. I dont see that as racist, not with the accepted definition of the term. They are less casteist than any other party in India including the current Congress alliance. So if you won't support them based on this principle, you have no one to support in India. Shut shop and leave. I think real-politik is about permanent interests. At this stage of world-affairs, the BJPs world-view concurs with those of US, Israel, UK and Japan. You would be foolish to let idealism get in the way of prudent foreign-policy. The BJP are still on the look-out for a lasting iconic leader and if they manage to find one in time for the next election, they will most certainly win. The Americans can either make the mistake of choosing an Islamic Pakistan, the root cause of proliferation, terror and everything that is going wrong for the world today, or it can choose a BJP-led India that is a democracy, a fast groing economy and most importantly, shares the concerns of the US.

Could you cite any evidence, or is this just your opinion?

Ping!!

Its time we took down Bangladesh. Just to show Pakistan what's coming. A small visit and some loss of territory will teach the Khaleda Zia led BDR schmucks to play the Jehadi card against India.

The comment was an attempt to put it kindly. BJP is known for racism. Even its supporters have to acknowledge that. Here is a Wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BJP . Look under the Hindu nationalism part.

As the comment stated, the stereotype could be inaccurate, but it does exist.

On the same page, see also http://tools.superhit.in/nph-proxy.cgi/000110A/http/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BJP#Hindu_Nationalism

I don't see anything wrong with being the way the BJP is. It stands for the general interests of 84% of India the Hindus, unlike the other parties that cater to Muslim vote-banks and adopt Islamic appeasement asa policy.

Besides, when did FR start caring much for what leftists think. Even on Wikipedia, it is clear that the part criticizing the BJP comes mainly from the left as the article here puts it.

Yeah right if I need to know about the BJP I will read up some stinking tripe from Wikipedia or rely on some Paki article. /sarc

BTW if fighting the Jihadist is "castist" or "racist" then we are proud to be "castist" and "racist". And no wonder Jihadists like you are Paki supporter and anti-BJP.

BTW whats your stand on Israel and Hezbollah?

I dont understand why some Americans will always piss on the pro-US, pro-Israel BJP and try to suck up on the Pakis who are among the most anti-American people in the world. No wonder today America is left without an ally in this world.

"I dont understand why some Americans will always piss on the pro-US, pro-Israel BJP and try to suck up on the Pakis who are among the most anti-American people in the world."

It doesn't make sense to most of us in the USA. I suspect that some of our elite have been listening to certain Europeans for a long time. Even President Nixon sucked-up to often-vacationing (on holidays) business interests instead of considering honest foreign policy.

"No wonder today America is left without an ally in this world."

Most us reject "empire" and neglect certain pecuniary opportunities (one such "opportunity" being to aid the enemy).

I'm torn, sometimes, between wanting us to finish defeating terrorist enemies and receding to watch the show over there--to find out as to which country will be the seat of the new empire. In the meantime, we could contentrate on anti-ballistic missile shields for the USA and Israel, to keep us out of the fray.

Here's what I'm getting at. We in the USA have been slandered all over the planet by envoys from evil once-empires. Our US leaders, being spoiled rotten, bow to and do the bidding of those same empires for the sake of surface cultural, affinities (trivial likenesses). They go to suck-up and to lose their luggage while getting doses of Cavalier "prestige" from their old countries (countries of their ancestors). Our elite minority shows more loyalty to back-biting western Europe than they do to their own country (the USA). Most of us are disgusted by it.

You are obviously a BJPer.

No offense was intended by the comments, but BJP is stereotyped as being racist and caste-ist.

Wikipedia was convenient to use, but it is far from the only source that has labeled (smeared?) the BJP as being racist.

What is with all you Indians who get so offended by that fact (that there are stereotyped about the BJP)? If you had knowledge to the contrary, you could simply state that instead of going into a little, typed tirade.

Also, considering many of you (Indian freepers) vehemently oppose the idea that there is persecution of Christians in India, your credibility is rather low on topics pertaining to criticism of India.

If BJP is caste-ist, then they are racist, as the caste system is racist. If the BJP is not caste-ist, then they are not racist.

Understand that? Or is something getting lost in between American and Indian English?

BTW, most Americans know little about India's political system, much less about the BJP, the comments specifically had leeway for Indians to give more accurate accounts of the BJP (read the comments again). Instead of recognizing this, you come to odd conclusions.
