A scare in the air for one British Airways flight

Just how cautious are airline pilots after last week's thwarted terror plot? Consider this: A British Airways captain was piloting a New York bound jet when a cell phone with no apparent owner began ringing on board. The pilot, taking no chances, turned the plane around.

Eyewitness News reporter Joe Torres talked exclusively with a local woman on board.

They didn't find out whose it was. It was hidden under a seat.

"She lifted the cushion up and there it was stuck to the cushion wrapped in this plastic," Tracie said.

NOT a lost or misplaced phone.

A frantic search began before a panicked flight attendant found the phone in a very unusual place.

That phone didn't just magically appear. And this is terrorism, even when it doesn't go BOOM. The ROP fanatics do this kind of stuff for four reasons:

- testing, probing, seeing what they can get away with
- screw up our economy. Every time a plane has to turn back, or sit on the runway for hours they consider it a win
- keep our LEOs busy with the red herrings so they're not so likely to notice the real thing
- make our lives as miserable as they can by adding stress to every aspect of our daily lives

I don't mind saying that I am afraid of these people and I detest them too.

They are scary people. Nothing bothers them. Normal people have things to live for. These freaks see death as honorable when they kill themselves along with the infidel. Taking their life just doesn't matter. Nothing deters them ... that's the frustrating aspect.

If I hadn't seen it ... with regret ... I would find it hard to believe that a civilized person could literally saw someones head off and be so full of joy for "allah". i.e. Satan.

This sounds like a dry run. Remember in the summer of 20001 the 9/11 hijackers did at least one dry run before their real attack.

Most likely it was not an incoming call to the cell phone since the plane was over the Atlantic. Most likely the alarm clock timer went off which causes the phone to ring.

Cell phones have alarm clocks in them now that their owners can set for specific times - like if they need a "alarm" type reminder to take medication at a certain time of the day.

Well they could have been testing to se if the phone would work. I am sure ne of the ROPs that work at the airport placed the phone there and one of his accomplishes was on the flight to listen if the phone rang. Nest time an IED will be attached to the phone.
