Yes I know. I guess the way the article is written made it sound like people were downloading code from the internet and loading it into a missle directly.

Ten years or so ago surfing the internet it dawned upon me how insecure software and the internet was, and was doubly concerned because I knew our military was using "off the shelf or cots procurement strategy. The original article though, is ironic in that those guys are utilizing a DARPA born infrastructure - their heart might or might not be in the right place, but it's tough to see how it might work.
HAMS respect the shortwave bands because the FCC will throw your happy self into jail for running commercial enterprises.
