Law enforcement sources confirm to News 4 that Tucson Police have issued an "attempt to locate" on two Middle Eastern men in their 20's who purchased nearly 50 phones from Sam's Club and Wal-Mart in Tucson.
Sources say the men made the purchases on Saturday and Sunday.
There's been a number of arrests nationwide with very similar circumstances.
News 4 is not linking this case with the national cases, but we do want to point out how similar they are.
Arrests have been made in Michigan and Ohio and there are reports of large numbers of cell phones being sold to young men fitting the same description in Wisconsin.
There was a very similar case that went down in Antigo, Wisconsin where police say another group of men bought more than 90 cell phones from 4 different stores.
News 4 spoke with a Wal-mart and Sam's Club representative and he would not confirm nor deny that these men did in fact buy those phones.
Instead, he referred us to the police and we spoke with the Pima Sheriff's Department and the Marana and Oro Valley police departments.
Tucson law enforcement authorities confirmed late Sunday night that officers are searching for these two men.
Searching for 2 ME-Men Mega Cell Phone Buyers in Tucson --- but they're not Terrorist Islamofascists --- nothing to see here move along.
Time for a major roundup of the terror sympathizers in this country.
First they corner the market on oil, now they go for the cell phone industry trying to cause a shortage to make the prices go up. Bastages! ;)
They had better be looking for a lot more than two young, middle eastern punks, given all the prayer rugs and korans found in the desert around there and the proximity to the Mexican border.
All the cheap produce in the world isn't worth getting our infrastructure destroyed. Wouldn't take much out west to really screw things up on the electrical grid.
Yet another phone story. We had it happen in our small town and it didn't make the national news. Clearly, something is up that so many of these Islamofascists are doing this.
I need to buy stock in Nokia.
There was a similar report from a local news station yesterday night. What could the cell phones be used for? Could they be turned into bombs?
What mucking foron sold so many phones in one swell foop? Is his name Mo?
Why in the #$#$%^ wouldn't a clerk or manager say.....what are these guys doing buying that many cell phones. They can't have THAT many friends.
When I see an Amish kid buy 120 rolls of toilet paper, I know exactly what he is up to. I walk over to him and say....do you think that will be enough? To which they usually reply,...it better be...this is getting to be expensive.
The next day some friends house, yard and entire garden is papered.
Why are they doing this? They could each go into stores all day long and buy 1 or 2 and no one would notice.
Hook it up to the charge, place it, turn it on, wait, then call it from another phone and: BOOM!
I bet most people don't know selling phones is even an issue. Freepers do, but how much play has this gotten in main stream media?
Do not sell cell phones to the terrorists. Every employee in any of these stores should be told that by LEO.
Do not rent vans to the terrorists. They have all been driving rental vans.
Do not let the terrorists into the U.S. I don't care if they say they are students.
Clerks are going to be the new line of defense. It was the sharp eyed clerks who called 911 on these guys. Women!!
I hope they're sitting in their cells thinking about that one!
OK. Call me slow, but if each of these clusters of ME men were just in it for a resale business, they could, after seeing these reports all over, turn to some other product to push. Unless of course it's not the money but the actual cell phones themselves that are the point of these purchases.
Hello America - can you hear me now??
Very little. I have spoke with several people about this the last few days. They have no idea what I'm talking about.
Good post. Just saw this on LGF blog. This cell phone stuff is getting crazy. There is NO WAY these people are just re-selling the phones or the Sim cards or whatever they are, otherwise, we'd have Mexicans and lots of others doing the same. It's only middle-eastern guys doing it.
Oh, BTW, anyone see the age profile of all the guys involved in the recent foiled attempt to destroy all those planes - they were all age 17 - 35! Profile! Profile! Profile! People.
Ties to terrorists? Please! Just your typical All-American kids.
