AUSTRALIA'S top police officer has described an alleged plan to use a baby in the foiled British terror bombing plot as a chilling development.
Scotland Yard police are questioning a husband and wife who allegedly planned to hide a liquid bomb in their baby's bottle to bring down an airliner.
They are among the 23 suspects arrested over the plot to blow up airliners headed for the United States in mid-flight.
Mr Keelty today expressed dismay at the alleged plan to use a child in a suicide mission.
"The phenomena of suicide bombings as a new way of taking part in terror attacks is in itself concerning, but to think or imagine that anybody would use an innocent child to join them is even more disconcerting," he said on Channel 9.
"And I think it just goes to show you the sorts of difficulties that we're now facing in the environment that we're all in."

Think about this for a moment? Why do we even search all the people in the airports, when we know the type of people to look for, and the type? Also consider this, why are we so concerned about being politically correct, or offending the muslim community, when they have brought this on to them selves? Most of the world is beginning to see for themselves the mentality of the muslim thelogy being taught and inplemented! In the U.S. there are about 7 million Muslims. If the 15% figure applied here - that would be 1 MILLION JIHADIS right here in River City RIGHT NOW!
Once again, the number of militant Muslims in America RIGHT NOW would about equal the number of REAL Americans in uniforms, military and civil, a credible threat to Freedom.
The main advantage that the U.S. enjoys that the Brits don't is that the British People have BEEN DISARMED by their own government (Auzzies too) BUT, here in America, I'VE GOT A REMINGTON AND A LOT OF SHELLS along with a few million other patriots.
Banishment is the only way to go. Young men first to cut down on the strain of the mandatory phase. The rest of their families should voluntarily follow. Bulldoze the mosques. Respect their religion?
