Naw. You've gotta try it. Anytime we go to a restaurant that has it I pig out. Especially if the serve it with Pumpernickel bread. MMMmmmmmm!

It won't hurt you, and you may find that you like it. And Liverwurst sandwiches with onion, and mayo are the best. (Well, besides PJB).

I'm afraid I have to be unreasonable here and say, "No. Never." I shall never eat liver or cut off my own penis. These are two things on which I can't compromise.

I'll agree to the 2nd wholeheartedly. The first, well, to each his own. I sure can't acquaint the two.

But, then again, when I think of snails, well.......

No one is seeing we are being hit. By the socialists.

Soft shell crabs are at the center of the latest controversy over how seafood and meat are being treated on their way to the table.

That kind of Bravo Sierra ain't gonna cut it where I live........

"Animals should not be boiled alive," said Paul Shapiro, director of the Humane Society of the group's Factory Farming Campaign.

Crustaceans are not animals, they are crustaceans.....

I'm so over this kind of crapola I can't even see straight.

I don't even like softshell crabs, but my husband and daughter do, so I think I will go out and buy some tomorrow for them..........and I'll just get some hardshell crabs for me - that I will drop in the water alive.........

SHEESH.

I bet Abe Froman, The Sausage King of Chicago, is behind this.

Well, maybe that will focus our attention away from the silly crap, like menu items and smoking bans.

I had a snail on a cruise once. It was French night. We had to take pictures of each other eating them (only one each).

I just can't justify eating a garden pest when there is perfectly good steak mooing around.

I don't even allow the word to be spoken.

ROFL

When growing up, my Mom served the same suppers on the same nights. Thursday way calf's liver, bacon and corn fritters.

Now you may think that was bad, but Friday was creamed cod an mashed potatoes. Everything's relative I guess, and compared to creamed cod, calves liver is dinner for kings.

No. Well, I've tried calf's liver (was basically tricked into trying it) and it was revolting. I'm sure the mere smell of it would be enough to make me vomit. It's forbidden in my house. I don't even allow the word to be spoken.

ROFLMSS!!!!!!!!!

I'm with you, I absolutely DESPISE calf's liver or beef liver. The smell IS revolting. I had to eat it as a kid. I've been on my own since 1982 and the stuff has NEVER been in my refrigerator, in my oven/on my stove or even on my table since then.

My husband loves thr stuff.......but only gets it when we go out, or for some reason I'm not going to be home for dinner.

I don't see any references to firearms in all that, so I guess I'm still okay.

>>>Live seafood the new humane focus <<<

- "Animals should not be boiled alive," said Paul Shapiro, director of the Humane Society

- egg-laying hens or veal calves or ducks used for foie gras suffer tormant. Foie Gras is being banned in many locations. 'Factory' farm animals next. Humane society's definition of factory farms. Which means, no one from the NIAA.

But, then again, when I think of snails, well.......

I will do poultry liver, but not meat liver.........in fact I've got a pound of chicken livers in the freezeer just waiting for me to do ramaki :)

Snails, well, those I will do any day, as long as there is lots and lots of garlic butter with them, and crusty bread.

I recently dined at Karl Ratzsch's in Milwaukee. There was no foie gras on the menu but it was one of the finest dining experiences I have ever enjoyed. There were a number of us so I was able to taste a variety of dishes.

One of our party was a long time acquaintance of the management's and the chef kindly to sent a platter with a variety of entree samples for tasting before we ordered.

Looking back on the meal, I most remember the liver dumpling soup, very light and subtly flavored, and the potato pancakes, very crisp but not overcooked and again, delicately flavored. Of course, the old world decor and the accented english of the staff enhanced everything.

How I miss all the neighborhood German bakeries. I better stop before I put on weight just thinking about it all. Mmmm, Königsberger Klöpse, Sauerbraten, Wiener Schnitzel...
