LONDON, England (CNN) -- British police confirmed Saturday that they had raided a series of Internet cafes in their investigation into an alleged plot to blow up as many as 10 trans-Atlantic aircraft.
There was no confirmation of any arrests in the raids in London, Birmingham and the Thames Valley region, west of the capital.
The raids came as links to suspected terror operatives in Pakistan -- possibly connected to al Qaeda -- were emerging Saturday as key elements of the investigation.

Ban INTERNET CAFES, right.....?
No, because liberals love internet cafes. We shoud ban more guns.
No, but watch what goes on. I travel to Spain fairly often (less now than I used to, because of the price of the ticket!), and before the advent of ADSL in hotels and other places, I used to go to Internet cafes. They were hotbeds of petty crime - mostly pickpockets, taking advantage of the fact that people were distracted - and at one point I got my passport stolen there. I was really annoyed because I don't usually carry my passport and had it on me only because I was on my way home from a trip to another part of Spain where I needed to use it for ID.
In any case, they are definitely places to watch. Also, a lot of smaller ones are owned by people from Africa and the ME, who provide Internet connections but also offer phone services of various types and sell disposable cell phones and cards. Some of the Madrid bombers were connected with one of these places.
Just ban Computers - nothing good can come of them ;)
Getting on airplanes after questions, searches, taking away beverages, rumors of taking away all carry-on luggage...

I don't want a ban on people's business if they are honest owners but if they are knowingly allowing criminals to use their establishment then they should be shut down. Sometimes in business, to assure criminal behavior doesn't hijack the business, regulations are needed.

Guys who were about to kill themselves in service to Allah are complaining about a 26-hour fast and no blankies. No irony there.
Among those arrested were a biochemistry student, a worker at Heathrow Airport and a 17-year-old who recently converted to Islam. While the teen had grown a beard and started wearing traditional Muslim clothes, he did not appear to be radicalized.
He converted, grew a beard and wears a dishdash, but he's not radicalized -- just your normal British youth. This growing a beard and donning Islamic clothes all of a sudden is a pattern that's repeats itself in the profiles of arrested terrorists, but the media can't be bothered with research when they're busy propagandizing for all those "persecuted" Muslim terrorists.

Sure! The airlines are probably worried about a few lawsuits come through for harassment, so they don't profile. Honestly, I would prefer dealing with a few lawsuits if it stopped terrorists from being on our planes. In the long run it would still cost less. It's time to stop this political correctness.

The arrests have led to increased pressure on Britain's Muslim community, prompting leaders to publish an open letter to Prime Minister Tony Blair in which they blame his foreign policy for inciting extremist anger.
"It is our view that current British government policy risks putting civilians at increased risk both in the UK and abroad," the letter said.
Sounds like a threat to me.
So fighting the terroists makes the Msulims even more violent.
