Plan B doesn't work if you are already pregnant. It is not an abortion.

You've already gotten a couple of accurate responses on this. Basically, people who respect life oppose Plan B for the same reason they oppose embryonic stem-cell research. Plan B can (though it does not always) destroy an egg that has been fertilized but not implanted.

Sounds to me like you have the Talking Point on Plan B down pretty well though (with even a snide dig at those who have qualms about it). I'm curious where you got both the "information" and the attitude to go with it?

I remember that dreadful article. Even the New York Times Magazine was full of letters from people disgusted by it the next week.

Is recreational sex between married couples now a bad thing? Must all sexual relations between married couples now be specifically to have children?

My wife thinks so. As probably do a lot of women.

The bottom line to me is..imagine being a child, and having your parents tell the whole world that they had unprotected sex and were "afraid" that your mother might have another child. So they took a pill to stop it.

Does anybody not see the issues that this might cause in the child that was allowed to live? Or, the twistedness in the fact that these people think they should share this with the whole world?

Am I way off base here?

Only if your "base" is the Democrat Party Platform!

Interestingly, even Naomi Wolf (Al Gore's favorite feminist) admitted a while back that she felt guilty over taking the Morning After pill when she was a college student.

Wolf separated herself from the usual feminist suspects when she wrote an article in JFK Jr.'s now-defunct George magazine taking other feminists to task for not slamming Clinton's on-the-job behavior. Despite being a Gore consultant and graduate of San Francisco's Lowell High (which also produced Stephen Breyer), she makes sense more often than the usual lib libbers.

The kids are being raised by a couple of self-obsessed whacko libs. They're probably already going to be screwed up somewhat.

Not only did they take a pill to "stop it".
"It" could have already begun.
They took a pill to keep it from growing.

Umm, not to be overly contrarian here, but there was no pregnancy aborted in this article. There was birth control.

You're kidding, right?

Quoting from the FDA's website:

"Plan B works like other birth control pills to prevent pregnancy. Plan B acts primarily by stopping the release of an egg from the ovary (ovulation). It may prevent the union of sperm and egg (fertilization). If fertilization does occur, Plan B may prevent a fertilized egg from attaching to the womb (implantation)."

http://www.fda.gov/CDER/drug/infopage/planB/planBQandA.htm

In other words, it works as both a contraceptive (preventing conception = no transmission of life) AND as an abortifacient (preventing implantation = killing your conceived child at the embryonic stage)

"Wouldn't it be nice if the unwanted aborted children would be the ones who judge the parents who in the heat of the moment chose themselves over the life they had just created?"

In the next life that may be the case.

After all, why did we use Plan B? We did it for our family. We weren't trying to avoid responsibility, but rather to embrace it.

Thus is the bizarre macabre delusional pseudo-logic routinely employed by liberals.

"In the next life that may be the case."

Maybe in the next life they will be allowed to sit in on the trial and pipe in their 2 cents

Of course, I'm not immune to emotion either, especially For my wife and me, the decision to use Plan B was hardly casual. Although we both support abortion rights and favor the widest possible access to Plan B, we have serious qualms about the ethics of abortion and conception, questions about when, exactly, life begins.

If you have serious qualms then why on earth do you practice and support abortion?

Yes, there it all is: the boastful parading about of something shameful and regrettable that should have remained between himself and his wife. But instead of genuine contrition, or at least a decent ambivalence, he converts it into a triumphant example of his moral virtue - he feels good about himself and that's what's most important. It stands as proof, if proof were needed, that the failure of the American left is not so much political, but is the result of the collapse of individual moral responsibility, in which the most dubious deeds and beliefs are converted into self-righteous badges of over-inflated self-esteem.

What's your question? When is it convenient for you for life to begin?

Abortion is their sacrament, like communion is for Christians. The baby's life is sacrificed for their lifestyle. They worship themselves.
