I don't think the authorities are sure it is totally foiled. If it isn't, then the rest of the perps will go underground for a spell until they can try again.
With the exception of very few Muslims, the "good" muslims are keeping far to silent for them to have any credibility. I hope the undercover folks are infiltrating the mosques...profile, as awful as it is, is something that needs to be considered.
Our neighbors have told terrible stories of what happened them during WW II and somehow have risen above it...and as humiliating as it was then for them, I get the sense they understand why it was done.

Couldn't someone put chemicals into ziplock bags and put those into the lining of their coats?
Also, I read that medicines were allowed onboard if the prescription matched the passenger ID. That is an easy work around with what SHOULD be cough syrup. I would think they could even put it into capsules if necessary.
It is going to happen. It is inevitable. There are many ways around this and I don't believe they caught everyone.
It wasn't. That's why the red alert. It's unclear as of yet how many haven't been arrested yet that may try to complete their mission in the next week or two. The heightened security is to dissuade them from that, and, hopefully, to roll up the rest of the network.
