"We'd like to remind people that the suspects are innocent until proven guilty."
Wrong. They are guilty, we just haven't convicted them yet.
On August 16th, a couple of thousand people who planned on flying should stop what they're doing and give thanks to God (and England) that they are still alive.
My son is in the UK, he is scheduled to fly back on 8/16, this just sucks.
I regret to say that it may take another successful 9/11 scale attack to truly wake some people up for good. Not that I want this to happen but that is probably what it would take. Foiled attacks fade away from memory even quicker than successful attacks and in six months, we'll have the same old people yip-yip-yapping about why we bothering with all this terrorism prevention business.
They lived in a mosque?
August 16th is my nephew's birthday, my spouse's b'day is Sept 12th and my kid's birthday is 7/7.
Cue Twilight Zone theme song now.
Hmmm, Elvis died on August 16th. Coinkidink?!?!
The real enemy is the muslim clerics that are indoctrinating the disenfranchised young men in the muslim culture.
And who is still against racial profiling? This is how Scotland Yard nailed these suckers. Scotland Yard is now, and always has been, the best...

Does anybody know the cities that were targeted on 8/16?
Quick comments:
1) Wondering if somehow the timing of this foiled attack was coordinated between Al Queda and Iran, remember Iran has their August 22nd "day of joy" planned. While AQ and Iran hated each other in the 90's they seem to be collaberating actively these days. If we were hit this way we perhaps could not react as well if Iran made moves.
2) For those of you I argued with about Musharref who thought Musharref was an enemy not an ally or that the Bush Administration was throwing it's money away on him, you were wrong.
Musharref needed time to change his pro-AQ intelligence service slowly but surely. Imagine if in the USA our army was loyal to the POTUS but all of out intelligence services protected terrorists! Our investment in Musharref is just starting to pay dividends. The guy has had numerous assasination attempts on his life and tremendous pressure every minute of his life for trying to do the right thing for mankind and his country.
I still worry about Pakistan and what will happen when this man is gone, but for now the decision to engage him the way we did just saved us a couple of thousand lives and another half trillion dollars in money from an economy that would have sagged like it did after 9/11.
"It acted under powers granted by the United Nations..."
Even more chilling.
When we and Britain get out of the UN, our countries...and all other countries on this planet, will be a lot safer, freer, and more prosperous.
We need to stay on guard though. There may be a backup plan.
Notice the misuse of a police car.
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my miscellaneous ping list.
that was close!
Lawrence of Arabia born.
Abu Nidal died (some idspute on this). Maybe the date means nothing.
I am beginning to lean towards TWA 800 as being the first successful attack of this type.
