Boortz: DEMOCRATS CAN'T HELP THEMSELVES [re: foiled terrorist plot]

DEMOCRATS CAN'T HELP THEMSELVES

Yesterday morning, hundreds of lives-- maybe thousands -- were saved, many of them innocent American lives. It should be a time of great relief....of gratitude toward the British government for foiling the plot along with anybody else who contributed. Politics should be the last thing on anyone's mind. But not the leaders of the 2006 Democratic Party. Oh no.

Enter Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, intrepid leaders of the left side of the aisle in the Congress. They issued a statement: "Today's news is an urgent reminder that we must make America safer and the world more stable. We must implement the strong recommendations of the independent 9/11 Commission to improve airport security screening at checkpoints." Fine. Nothing wrong with that.

They could have left it at that. But oh no....they couldn't. Because you see, Democrats (except Joe Lieberman and Ed Koch) have an addiction. That addiction is called Bush-bashing. It has no known cure. They can't stop. So just as the next 9/11 is thwarted, the Democrats decided to take shots at our commander-in-chief. Harry Reid said "This latest plot demonstrates the need for the Bush administration and the Congress to change course in Iraq and ensure that we are taking all the steps necessary to protect Americans at home and across the world." Ahh yes...they can't let go.

So to sum it up, the foiled terrorist attacks yesterday happened because of George W. Bush, just like everything bad that happens everywhere. Blame it on the administration. Typical.

I suppose the appeasement party thinks that these attacks would not have happened if Saddam Hussein had still been in power.

The 9-11 commission was a joke.

One of more "erudite" looney whackjob sites states that the whole terrorist attack in England is actually a false flag operation to stop people from flying and, hence, (yes, they did use le mot hence) use less oil since BP's line is closed.

Add this one to the explosives blowing up the Towers and democrats taking the Congress and I'm scared to death.

There is no explanation for people so willfully deluded.

Am expensive joke. All we got out of 911 commission was some mouthy widows who have a penchant to get their names in the paper.

Gorelick saw to it that nothing came up in the commission to put the blame on Clinton where it belonged.

I am grateful and relieved. I am also ANGRY! Five years after September 11th and these crazies still come this close to another attack which would have killed thousands and had worldwide economic impact. Does this wake up any of the sheeple? Listening to news and commentary the last 24 hours apparently not. Now, mothers must surrender their jars of baby food before boarding flights. Profile, profile, profile! And step up other efforts to track the killers down. And, concerning some Egyptian 'students' who went missing this week, stop letting these whack-jobs into the country.

And yes the 911 Commission was a joke - it's primary mission was to protect the Clinton Admin from any blame. Jamie Gorelick, Richard Ben Veniste - what an effing joke!

Golda Meir said, "Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us."

Seems to me Democrats hate Bush more than they love America.

If you will forgive an amendment to that statement: The Democrats hate Bush even more than they hate America.

The Democrats hate Bush beyond just about anything...except maybe large, successful free-enterprise entities. You can tell by the warm, close alliance they've built and maintained with Islamonazis worldwide.

Fox poll this morning says that only 63% want the p resident to be successful.

I suppose it has been informative to find out how many believe conspiracy theories. Now what are we going to do about it? is is about time we really talk about a definition of freedom of speach that has morphed into license to lie. As my neighbor observed, every guest on Art Bell is selling something, and that something is almost always false and fear/ignorance based.

The information age is a misnomer, imho. What we get is just as often misinformation, disinformation, or outright propaganda. We have been blessed with very powerful communication tools and need to turn their use to benefit mankind. If I were running the war on terror I would find a way to lean on outlets that are purveying smut, hate, and seditous spin.

I wonder if the recent increase in sales of "Mein Kampf" is due to liberals.

The 911 Commission, with Jamie Gorelick, should be tossed into the trash can of history. Not any coverage of Able Danger.

I am grateful and relieved. I am also ANGRY!

My sentiments exactly. What if today's headline read:

TEN AIRLINERS BLOWN UP OVER THE ATLANTIC
DEATH TOLL APPROACHES 3500, EXCEEDING 9/11
AL-QUAEDA TAKES RESPONSIBILITY
THE ARAB STREET CELEBRATES

Would we not be seething with rage? Remember how we felt on 9/11? Why shouldn't we feel EXACTLY the same way. If a murderer shoots at you and misses, are you less irate because his aim was off? The fact that the plot was foiled should not make us any less angry.

Perhaps, once the wave of relief subsides, the waves of anger will continue, and we'll get serious about the war on terror. The President, shortly after 9/11, announced the Bush Doctrine:

We will starve terrorists of funding, turn them one against another, drive them from place to place, until there is no refuge or no rest. And we will pursue nations that provide aid or safe haven to terrorism. Every nation, in every region, now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists. From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime.

Call me crazy, but I believe that Iran and Syria fit the President's definition. And Saudi Arabia, among others, ain't far behind.

I turned on the tube last night and caught a little of Paula Zahn on CNN. I stayed because she was interviewing the White House Homeland Security Advisor, Frances Fragos Hottie Townsend...

Anyway, I couldn't help but notice my new favorite White House Homeland Security Advisor getting very irritated with Paula Zahn. By this, I mean, here we had news yesterday of the busted terrorist plot and the British and U.S. intelligence coming together to thwart a plot that could have resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians and Paula Zahn kept asking my new favorite Homeland Security Advisor babe about past problems and criticisms of Homeland Security and the TSA.

Transcript:

ZAHN: Is it safe for the American public to fly?

FRANCES FRAGOS TOWNSEND, WHITE HOUSE HOMELAND SECURITY ADVISER BABE: You know, it's natural that the American public would have that question.

And -- and the honest answer is, because we're taking these measures, these extraordinary measures that do cause inconvenience and delay, they can feel secure about flying. I have two small kids. I know it's an inconvenience. I know it's a burden. But this is -- this is a temporary measure we have got to take to ensure that our enemies, terrorists who want to blow up planes, can't get the essential components that they need through screening and on to a plane, so they can blow it up.

ZAHN: You say extraordinary measures are being taken, but how can the American public feel safe, when the TSA's own research, along with "USA Today," says that only 10 to 20 percent of carry-on baggage is actually tested for explosive material?

TOWNSEND (BABE): Well, all of it is screened. Let's -- let's be clear. All of it is looked at. All of it is screened. All of it goes through the magnetometers.
And the screeners are looking for anomalies, if you will. It's not just the explosive testing. They then have the ability, where they see anomalies, and they suspect something, to use more -- more specific explosive-detection methods.
But it's all looked at, and it's all screened.

ZAHN: But you have got Representative John Mica out there, who happens to be the chairman of the Transportation Subcommittee, saying that the system that we now have in place is farcical, and that the failure rate to detect explosives is just disastrous.

TOWNSEND (BABE): There's no question, Paula, that the Department of Homeland Security works with industry to push the technology, so it improves. And they have gotten greater explosive-detection equipment, with greater reliability.
And we will continue to work with industry and push them, and get the state-of-the-art equipment, and have it deployed in airports.

ZAHN: Is this fair criticism, on his part, because Representative Mica goes on to say that billions of dollars have been spent on this very specific kind of equipment you're talking about, that would detect explosives, but, in many cases, it's sitting on shelves and not even being used.

TOWNSEND (Noticeably Irritated but still a BABE): You know, Paula, this is the first I -- I'm hearing of Representative Mica's criticism.
I can tell you, having worked with Kip Hawley, who's the head of TSA, and with Secretary Chertoff, there is no higher priority than ensuring that this equipment is timely deployed, that the screeners have the adequate training, so they're using it properly, and ensuring that we get the maximum advantage of that equipment and the money that we're spending on aviation security.

ZAHN: You say you're hearing some of Representative Mica's criticism for the first time.

And, yet, there was a pretty stinging GAO report that came out at the beginning of the spring, suggesting some major deficiencies in how the TSA was operating. Has anything changed? Have things gotten better since that report came out?

TOWNSEND (BABE ready to reach through the camera and grab Zahn by the throat): You know, I -- I can tell you, I know that Secretary -- having spoken to him, Secretary Chertoff and Kip Hawley made a priority out of going through the -- working with the inspector general, going through that report, and ensuring that changes, specific changes, to their -- to the findings were put in place.
-End Transcript-

Although my new favorite Homeland Security Advisor babe was noticeably irritated, she did handle the interview with grace. This was a day to be cautiously optimistic about the strides we are making toward domestic security and all my new favorite Homeland Security Advisor babe was hit with was liberal whining and criticism.

She's a sweetie-pie, don't cha think?

Enter Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, intrepid leaders of the left side of the aisle in the Congress. They issued a statement:

"Yeah, but they had to use Patriot Act style surveillance to do it. Those stinkin' Brits care more about the lives of about 3,000 people on ten international flights than they do the individual rights of their citizens" said Pelosi.

Harry Reid said that he spoke with Tom Daschle earlier in the day and that "Tom is deeply saddened".

I think your point is provably true. And some of the most damaging misinformation is purposely delivered in question form, from people like Chris Matthews and Keith Olberman. Their trick questions begin with a false premise, which go unchallenged and uncorrected.

IMHO, the GOP needs to hire someone like Sen. Fred Thompson to deliver prompt and short rebuttals to every snarky comment of the Democrat Party's "leaders".

IMHO, Reid and Pelosi "get away" with their dishonesty because no photognic Republican ever bothers to answer their partisan attacks with the truth.
