Middle-class and British: the Muslims in plots to bomb jets

Twenty-four terrorist suspects being held last night over an alleged plot to blow up as many as 10 transatlantic jets include middle-class, well-educated young men born in Britain. At least one of them converted to Islam only recently.

As Britain remained on a "critical" level of alert, it emerged that among those arrested were the white son of a former Conservative Party worker, the son of an architect and an accountant and a heavily pregnant woman. Some had studied at university and came from families that owned several properties or ran their own businesses.
Anti-terrorist police were continuing to search properties in High Wycombe, Bucks, Walthamstow, in east London, and Birmingham. Sources said they had found "a number of things that are causing interest". Many of those being questioned are believed to be Britons of Pakistani origin, although police have not confirmed that.
There were fears that as many as five people could still be on the run but Scotland Yard sources said it was believed that those alleged to be the key people had been arrested. Several arrests co-ordinated with those in Britain were made in Pakistan.
"Pakistan played a very important role in uncovering and breaking this international terrorist network," Tasnim Aslam, a foreign ministry spokesman, said in Islamabad.
The British arrests were made after security sources decided that plans to explode liquid bombs on airliners flying from the United Kingdom to America could have been executed within 48 hours.
Paul Stephenson, the Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner, said: "This was intended to be mass murder on an unimaginable scale."
It is believed that the plan was for different passengers to carry peroxide-based liquid explosive in drinks containers and detonators disguised as everyday electronic devices and combine them on board.

It seems to me that homegrown terrorists would be very difficult to profile. Kudos to the British undercover security team.
I agree. The penalty for just belonging to a terror cell should be death by hanging. Do it at the airport, and let their corpses swing outside the terminal until they rot.
Well, considering her Muslim maternal instincts were leading her to plan on blowing up baby pretty soon anyway, I guess it's six of one and half a dozen of the other.
In any case, since this is Britain, most of them probably won't even get a very long jail sentence. And they'll have the comfort of knowing their toilets are facing the right way.

How many parents does this white guy have? Is the pregnant woman (I consider the "heavily" redundant, insulting, or both) his mother, or his grandmother? Would someone like to attempt a family tree here?
So where did they get this idea from? Who or what radicalized them?

but really folks...Britain better be paying attention to what is happening under their own noses! And America is going to be shocked it is happening here....

British subjects who belong to a terror cell should definitely be hung publicly and humiliated in that fashion.
Foreign terrorists should be shot in the back of the head and shipped back to Krapistan with their cadavers stuffed with explosives for a real bang at their funerals.

islam really has been hijacked by a very well-financed global movement, which i suspect may be the wahabbist organization. There are numerous stories of them using threats or violence to take over local mosques. This is a phenomenon modern western legal values are not equipped to deal with except on a reactionary basis, particularly when natives born from families than immigrated generations ago and who were up until now productive members of society suddenly go rogue.
Don't forget it was the Paksistan government that helped in the operation. That speaks alot.
Bodies of famous or vicious pirates could also be removed from the inital hanging place, covered in tar to preserve them, and placed in a an iron hanging cage called a gibbet at a place on a prominent headland or beach where the body would be seen by passing ships. Here it was left to rot as a testament to the misdeeds of the pirate.

Perhaps we should put french led UN peace keepers in all Airports in Brittany. That will make the Muslims peaceful.
