Expert Won't Let Lauer Slough Off Al-Qaeda Connection

There is a noteworthy MSM tendency to downplay the gravity of various terrorist acts by suggesting that they are local, home-grown incidents rather than forming part of international conspiracies. A recent example was the MSM's treatment of the Seattle Jewish center shootings in which an Muslim-American killed one woman and injured several others.

To his credit, NBC terrorism expert Roger Cressey wouldn't let Matt Lauer sing that song when he tried it on this morning's Today show in connection with the plot to blow up in midflight planes originating in the UK.

Lauer floated his theory this way:

"The immediate inclination will be to say this is Al-Qaeda. But as we saw in the London train bombings, Roger, isn't it possible that this is a local group who agrees with Al-Qaeda philosophy, but they have no physical or economic connections to that larger group?"

Cressey cut Lauer off at the knees:

"Even in the case of [the London train bombings], Mohammad Sidique Khan, one of the leaders, went to Pakistan, trained in camps and prepared a suicide martyr's video while he was there. Matt, I think the scale of this plot means there are direct links back to Al-Qaeda in some shape or form. This was not a group of local guys thinking 'hey, let's take the jihad upon ourselves.' I think this was a very serious, sophisticated plot that was disrupted."

"The biggest weapon the enemy has in its arsenal is our political correctness."

That- coupled with our complicit MSM - pretty much makes up most of their arsenal, IMHO.

We must never lose the will to fight the terrorists. The media seem to want to convince us that we shouldnt fight.

Cindy Sheehan wants to convince us not to fight.

We lost 500,000 men in WWII fighting evil. We have lost 3000 in this war (on the battlefield) and many people are throwing in the towel.

We cannot lose our will to fight. The Matt Lauers and Sheehans of the world need to be slapped down and ignored.

God Bless our troops and our President.

Well said.

People in this administration just might need to learn the advantages of profiling.

Yep. Unabated, political correctness will be the means by which the United States is destroyed. I have no doubt.

"Lauer floated his theory this way:..."

Scary. A teleprompter reader purports to have expertise and advances his "theory."

Not to be picky, but I think the number was under 200,000.

OTOH, who cares what the terrorists' affiliations are, they are terrorists and they're plotting to kill us. We must take all of that more seriously. A plot by some backyard terrorist can be just as deadly as what was thwarted.

Yes.

Now, the TSA is taking away skin lotions from grandmothers and hair gels and toothpaste....

Officials still refuse to speak the name of the 'real' problem which is Middle Eastern/Islamics.

But.... "enjoy your trip" per Chertoff and HSD.

Not to be picky, but I think the number was under 200,000.

I think the real point here is that the media, and most of everyone else, doesn't even believe in evil any more.

The fifth anniversary of 9/11 is coming up. More plots like this will probably be revealed--hopefully in time to stop them.

Hmmm, would the passengers be any less dead if the group didn't have direct ties to Al-Qaeda? Would the plot be any less sinister? Up to 10 airplanes? These people are going to get us killed!!

OTOH, Lauer is a maroon and buffoon.
