I find that a brick wall works much better than a human shield. The human shield is poor at stopping shell fragments and much more messy.

I find a metal shield to be much more flexible and mobile.

I think in Iraq the shields wanted to be around schools and hospitals, but the Iraqis wanted them at military targets. Didn't most of the shields leave before the fighting started?
