It is a sad day, indeed, when one of the foremost muslim scholars in the world aids the evil ones by omission. He of all people, should know better.
Perhaps Mr. Lewis conveniently assumes that everyone should be well versed in history and in islam. I believe his omission is deliberate and calculated to soften the reality of the insanity of muslims generally.

The highlighted narrative above omits the knowledge that this all happened in a dream or a hallucination, not in reality.
Whether due to illness, or the use of certain substances is unclear, but clearly, it was in a dream.
