We are far better off supporting the Kurds.

Look at the Kurds , of all groups in Iraq they have consistently shown the most promise and sanity.
They want a chunk of Iran? We should very actively help them , including with our SF forces in the field like we did with the Northern Alliance.
Turkey won't like it? Tough beans ...we should never forget how Turkey stabbed us in the back by not allowing the 4th ID to cross Turkey at the start of Op Iraqi Freedom. That allowed so many enemies to escape I'm sure.

We should advocate a modern Kurdish state across the top of Iraq and Northern Iran , and help them get it.
