IREY TO MURTHA: WHY DO YOU WANT A CEASE-FIRE WITH PEOPLE WHO MURDERED MARINES?

(MONONGAHELA, August 8) -- Washington County Commissioner and Pennsylvania 12th district Republican Congressional nominee Diana Irey -- responding to Jack Murtha's stated desire for Israel to lay down its arms and stop defending itself against attacks from Marine-murdering Hezbollah terrorists in southern Lebanon -- today released the following statement:

"Last Wednesday, Jack Murtha said he wanted an immediate cease-fire between Israel and Hezbollah.

"That is, he wants Israel to lay down its arms and no longer defend itself against terrorists who have already rained thousands of crude Katyusha rockets down against innocent Jewish settlers.

"This terrorist group is responsible for the murders of more Americans than any terrorist organization other than al-Qaeda.

"This is the same terrorist group responsible for murdering 63 Americans in the bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut in April 1983; the same terrorist group responsible for murdering 241 American Marines by driving a suicide truck bomb into their barracks in Beirut in October 1983; the same terrorist group responsible for kidnapping and torturing CIA Beirut station chief William Francis Buckley for more than a year in 1984-85, before murdering him; and the same terrorist group responsible for kidnapping and torturing to death Marine Colonel William Higgins in July 1990.

"This terrorist group has as its stated mission the destruction of the state of Israel.

"They should not be negotiated with, they should be exterminated.

"Why in the WORLD would Jack Murtha want Israel to lay down its arms and parlay for peace with this group?

"The good news is, there are 91 days left in this campaign, and that's plenty of time to make sure the voters of the 12th District know just who Jack Murtha really is."

Damn, I like this woman! Hope she beats Murtha bad. I wanna see him cry at his concession speech - hell, I might cry (for joy) myself.

But, she made a slip of the lip when she called the Israelis under rocket attack "settlers". I believe they are Israeli citizens on Israeli soil, & are no more "settlers" in their neighborhood than I am in mine.

"Citizens" would have been a better word.

I agree with you.I understand what she means by the word "settlers",but the word is dated,20 or 30 years ago it probably would have been fine,but not today.

In any event, Mrs.Irey clearly understands the futility of a ceasefire.
