I've been drunk a time or two and I've never said anything like that.

"He added that Mr. Gibson “may not fully believe” his statements about Jews, “but they were waiting to be delivered,” once his inhibitions were lowered and he was subjected to the stress of being pulled over by the police. "{AS I WAS SAYING....!}

" I find in myself a chariot being drawn by a white horse and a black horse...with the white horse struggling towards the gods while the black towards Hades" Socrates

As I said before, humans are complicated creatures. We have to be taught and conditioned into rational moral behaviour because it doesn't come natural to us....alcohol being a depressant and anesthetic distorts the brain and loosens ones inhibitions. You never know what you'll get from a person when he/she is drunk.

The Bible says that every man has a desperately wicked heart and "and who could know it"! One of the reasons why drunkeness was considered a sin in the Bible was because of the power to loosen inhibitions....in a sense "undress" the man so that he does the things he would do when sober.

"Wine is a mocker...!"

Withdrawal indeed -- it's been HOURS since anyone bloviated on Mel Gibson, alcohol, whether his apology was sincere, whether it should be accepted, etc. Back to the more irrelevant news, at least for a moment -- Global Jihad, Jihadi Denial Disorder, the libs being totally logged out on reality, other trivial stuff. But here it is again, just in the nick of time.

In vino veritas, attributed to Plato.

Plato was a simpleton on that subject.

The silly boy should have stuck to comments like this:

"Ignorance, the root and the stem of every evil."

That's better, Plato.

Have another drink, btw.

Anyone who has been around a few drunks can easily see this as quite plausible. I don't think these "experts" have ever been in a bar. ---------------------

Yes, drunks can say some of the most outlandish things, and last night at my neighborhood bar, I had occasion to witness one of the most vulgar outbursts of blatant anti-Semitism I had ever heard.

I had stopped in for my Friday night end of week libation when a drunk, who had probably been there all afternoon, spouted the following rant:

“Come on; give Mel (Gibson) a break here. Who among us hasn’t gotten drunk and said something stupid. It’s all part of getting drunk, isn’t it? As for “Jews starting all the wars in the world,” even the most amateur historian knows that is just drunk talk, so what’s got the Jew’s panties all in a wad over this drunken blather? Could it be that American Jews, especially the Hollywood crowd, are nothing but Bush bashing, Kerry voting, Clinton loving, Jimmy Carter worshiping, liberal-left Democrats? And since when do we give a rat’s patooty what a low-life Democrat thinks?

Democrats have been looking for an opportunity to silence Mel Gibson ever since he showed the temerity to make movies that deeply offended them. With the help of the Main Stream Media, Democrats believe they can destroy and silence Mel Gibson over this single incidence of drunken stupidity. I hope Democrats are as wrong about this as they are about everything else.

Mel Gibson first offended Democrats by directing and staring in “Braveheart,” a film that depicted the triumph of good over evil. Democrats don’t believe in right or wrong or black and white; they just believe everything is in varying shades of gray.

Then he really ticked Democrats off when he directed and starred in “Once We Were Soldiers,” a film that depicted the American soldier in Vietnam in a positive light and the Vietnam War as a just and honorable fight to protect freedom and democracy in South East Asia. When Democrats, the Mainstream Media, and Hollywood had been telling the American people for decades that the American soldier in Vietnam was an undisciplined drug addict who committed atrocities on the peace-loving Vietnamese people, and the Vietnam War was a meaningless and worthless waste of American and Vietnamese life.

But the Mel Gibson film that really offended Democrats was “Passion of the Christ,” a film that told the story of the last days of Christ as it is written in scripture. This, after Democrats in Hollywood had spent millions of dollars over years trying to convince the American people that Christ was either a homosexual or a whore-monger.

Mel Gibson is a good man who has a severe drinking problem. A problem that causes him to get drunk and do stupid things. Stupid things like drive 80 mph in a 40 mph zone, and say Jews have started all wars. These acts of drunken stupidity coming from a good man such as Mel Gibson should generate pity among Christians and not hate. Those who seize the opportunity to destroy a good man because of his illness (alcoholism), are not Christians but are pursuing another agenda; they are simply Democrat partisan activists attempting to silence a good and honest man.

Mel Gibson’s recent lapse in good judgement, due to alcoholism, will not cause me to think less of him or to stop going to his movies, but I’ll probably wait for “Apocalypto” to come out on HBO before I see it. And as a Christian, I’ll pray for Mel Gibson’s speedy recovery from his illness and his return to making films that offend Democrats.

Barkeep, drinks are on me, and then it’s time to walk home to an angry wife.”

That ended the drunk’s tirade of blatant anti-Semitism, and I refused to allow such a racist to buy me a drink. I bought my own. One must be careful not to associate with such politically incorrect people.

Not quite sure how to read your post, that is, how much you were saying with tongue firmly planted in cheek, so I may have missed some points here.

If you were being straight with me, if that was truly the worst anti-Jew tirade you've ever heard, you must lead a sheltered life.

As far as Hollywood and Mel goes, I have seen a few scattered outbursts against him for his tirade, but I do not believe they have thrown gasoline on this fire. Several Jews have defended him (Devlin, Jackie Mason) and stories have been printed about how his agent and his chief bodygauard are both Jews. Will some never forgive and forget? Sure--but I think this will blow over and will be considered just the ravings of a drunk and frustrated guy.

As expected the scientists (and The Times) refuse to consider that alcoholics react differently than ordinary people who drink too much.

Dorothy Parker, in the final years of her own alcoholism, was a raving anti-Semite despite the fact that she had been one of the first anti-Hitler public figures and despite the fact that she herself was Jewish (nee Rothchild).

It was just a feeble attempt at political satire and I guess it didn't work very well.

No one has the nerve to take on such a politically incorrect task as it would be to attempt either to put this incident into proper perspective or to defend Mel Gibson, so I left it up to the neighborhood drunk.

My whole family was and is alcoholics why I was the exception I will give thanks to God! My cousin who is my only living relative is a nice person to be with but when she drinks she is hateful ,mean and down right evil and loves to pick fights. My dad was a different person when he drank as well he use to be very mean and love to beat up my mom for sport. As many times as I have been around people drinking in my family,I grew up in neighborhood bars, some people just had fun and were happy, but others just turned evil. I really believe in some people it has a weird effect on their brain especially those who have drank for most of their lives. I can't be around my cousin when she's drinking because it brings on anxiety attack caused from my past but I pray for her. and I guess we should pray for Mel Gibson and especially his family. The families of alcoholics suffer greatly in many ways,I know first hand.

Hmmm...never knew that she became a nutter in her twilight. I knew that she was Jewish and tossed off some great bon mots, though.
