I would like to see a free-trade agreement dealing with medicine to reduce prices, such as from Canada, other countries. This is asinine. SHould a poor person be able to get a need based scholarship to a University, then sell that scholarship to the highest bidder? Many American deugs are sold at discount prices to poorer countries (and socialist ones.) Those sales cover the incremental costs of making the drugs, but not the upfront costs of developing them. Should the US gov't ban the selling of any product to another country at less than the cost they are sold here?
In many cases, there is little or no cost for getting a drug approved in a country. (Compare that to the billion or so dollars it may cost here.) Should those countries pay higher prices to subsidize our American FDA?

Canada is a rich country and shouldn't be subsidized by Americans paying the full cost of R&D for drugs. The net result of allowing Americans to import drugs from Canada will be closer equalization of pricing between both markets.
If a country wishes to have an expensive FDA approval process such as we do in the United States, then of course our drugs will be more expensive and, supposedly, safer. If an American wants to take a calculated risk on using a cheaper import version (so long as it hasn't violated a patent, trademark and is properly labeled), we should be big enough boys and girls to make that decision without the nanny government looking over our shoulder.

We can take this U.S. Senate seat. She's got more faith than I have.

I'll reconsider this. If the result is to impede Canada's attempts to force the US to shoulder all of the burden of developing drugs, I could buy in to it...

It's kind of silly to ask someone to leave who's trouncing them in the polls. So we're fine, we'll move forward.
...
As for the polls, we laugh at the polls.
So when the polls favor you, they're a good indicator...but when they favor your opponent, you laugh at them.
This woman is truly delusional.
To: MinnesotaLibertarian
So what about those polls against President Bush? Those are suddenly the gospel too?
Give me a break. These polls were all pulled out of someone's behind.

What sensible people need to do is disregard all polls except the one that really counts and where people actually show up to vote; that's the one in November.

Harris said:
All of our data shows when we turn out our base, we'll win with 53 percent.
I say: The grassroots will GOTV for Katherine!

I'm not saying they're accurate. I'm just saying that she contradicted herself.

One must believe in order to achieve!
Katherine Harris knows the proven ability of the FL grassroots to GOTV.....she trusts us to do that again!
And we trust her to vote based on her conservative principles in the Senate as she has done in Congress.

All the folderall aside, Katherine is the real deal. The stuckup loons, the phony snowbirds, and the goofball R's aside, Katherine is the best thing going for Florida these days.
I don't get down your way anymore, stop around Charleston, but shucks, y'all need that gal!
Nelson is a hopeless old fool, probably got short-sheeted in flight school and was always issued a helmet that was too tight.
Served him right, IMHO, what a dweeb.

I have a lot more faith in Walmart's "Everyday Low Prices" competing with Walgreens, et al to get the best drug prices than I do in the government. Government should reduce its massive footprint to lower health care costs.
To: JulieRNR21
Katherine Harris was on a local FL TV station this a.m.. She spoke in detail about issues such as immigration and off shore drilling. Unlike Bill Nelson, who uses has best bellowing, Florida cracker, hee haw, blustering voice to say things like, "This country needs a sound energy policy" (no sh_t sherlock), Harris actually says what policies she favors, and why. Very refreshing to hear her speak, versus mediocre, air-headed politicians like Nelson.
To: Retired Chemist
She has a lot more then you have. lol

I just left a 3 month stay in the Tri State area, and delusional is fast becoming an real understatement of what is happening to the area.
