Too many in both the AKC and the SV have bred gigantic (even as they disdain the Shiloh Shepherds); I'm not talking fat. Even those in SV that are overall good weight, are heavy-boned, built like Rotties. They should be lighter in build.

My sister's dog - wonderful - was 110. Too heavy. My 2 long-term dogs, 1st Shana years ago and now Tara the wimp, weighed from 60-70 lbs. Now that I think of it, the "backyard" farm GS we got 25 years ago was about that weight. I had a pup before Tara who clearly was not going to be big - at 6 mos she was just 40 lbs. A tad underweight (miraculous in this day)! Although by now she's probably just made the grade (sold her young due to excitement-urination problems).

Ranger, my hurricane rescue checks in right about 65...he looks miniscule next to Timber. Because I know nothing of the circumstances of his whelping I have know idea of how much he 'should' weigh. Likewise, he was heartworm+ when adopted so I'll never know if and to what degree the infestation and treatment may have stunted his growth. His teeth seem exceptionally long for his size, which is probably about as big as he'll ever get.
