Pamphlet drop in Sydney calls for Holy War
Snip: A RADICAL group with alleged links to the London bombings is reportedly distributing pamphlets through suburban Sydney calling for a holy war.
The leaflets, from the extremist group Hizb ut-Tahir, call for a jihad to destroy Israel and use key dates in the Muslim calendar to signal the coming destruction of the Jewish state, The Daily Telegraph reported today.
Muslims alarmed by redrawn map of the Muslim world
Snip: Muslim circles have expressed alarm and disgust at the publication of a redrawn map of the Islamic world in a journal closely linked to the US armed forces.
The Armed Forces Journal, which has published the redrawn map of the world of Islam along with a long explanatory article, is published by the Army Times Publishing Company, a part of Gannett Company, Inc, the worlds largest publisher of professional military and defence periodicals.
The proposed scheme places Pakistan on the chopping block. According to the plan, Iran, a state with madcap boundaries, would lose a great deal of territory to Unified Azerbaijan, Free Kurdistan, the Arab Shia State and Free Balochistan, but would gain the provinces around Herat in todays Afghanistan a region with a historical and linguistic affinity for Persia.
Iran would, in effect, become an ethnic Persian state again, with the most difficult question being whether or not it should keep the port of Bandar Abbas or surrender it to the Arab Shia State.
What Afghanistan would lose to Persia in the west, it would gain in the east, as Pakistans North-west Frontier tribes would be reunited with their Afghan brethren Pakistan, another unnatural state, would also lose its Baloch territory to Free Balochistan. The remaining natural Pakistan would lie entirely east of the Indus, except for a westward spur near Karachi. The city-states of the UAE would have a mixed fate as they probably will in reality. Some might be incorporated in the Arab Shia State ringing much of the Persian Gulf Since all puritanical cultures are hypocritical, Dubai, of necessity, would be allowed to retain its playground status for rich debauchees. Kuwait would remain within its current borders, as would Oman.

Group in Gaza kidnapping journalists demands release of Muslim prisoners in US jails
Publish Date : 8/23/2006 2:38:00 PM // Source : R.N.A. // News Type : 2
Gaza, August 23, 2006 (RNA) - A previously unknown group calling itself the Holy Jihad Brigades claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of two foreign journalists working in FOX News Channel nine days ago in Gaza City.
The group said, in a press statement received by RNA, that it kidnapped both journalists in order to swap them for "female and male Muslim prisoners in US-run jails."
Armed gunmen kidnapped FOX News reporter Steve Centanni and his New Zealand cameraman Olaf Wiig, from Gaza City nine days ago. No group or demands were made since their kidnapping until today.
The kidnappers gave a deadline of 72 hours to what they described as "infidel nation", starting on Wednesday afternoon, in order to release Muslim prisoners from US jails in exchange for the kidnapped journalists.
"We will graciously give you 72 hours starting from the middle of this day to agree on your matters, and deliberate. If you fulfilled our condition, we fulfill ours, or await with us as we await," the statement read.
Despite that the form of the statement was not written in the style normally made by known Palestinian groups, what is worth noting is that this statement did not have any logo, stamp or signature of this anonymous group, who commentators believe it is an Islamist one.
As much as this statement carried to those it called "infidels" a call to convert to Islam, it also promised them with slaughtering if they did not, and held the United States and its President George W. Bush responsible for their policies in Iraq and Afghanistan, considering that "the shoes of one Muslim is dearer and more dignified than a thousand [George] Bush."
A video-taped message had been delivered to RNA main headquarters in Gaza, showing both Centanni and Wiig dressed in training suits and seated on the ground, looking healthy. They seemed to have not suffered torture or beating, and said on the tape that they were being treated well.

Pamphlet drop calls for 'holy war'
August 25, 2006
A RADICAL group with alleged links to the London bombings is reportedly distributing pamphlets through suburban Sydney calling for a holy war.
The leaflets, from the extremist group Hizb ut-Tahir, call for a jihad to destroy Israel and use key dates in the Muslim calendar to signal the coming destruction of the Jewish state, The Daily Telegraph reported today.
The group is banned in Germany and British Prime Minister Tony Blair has called for Hizb ut-Tahir, which has alleged links to last year's London terrorist attacks, to be outlawed there.
It remains legal in Australia despite calls for it to be banned.
A spokesman for Attorney-General Philip Ruddock's office said security agencies were "very aware" of the pamphlets.
"In order for a group to be proscribed as a terrorist organisation it must be directly or indirectly engaged in, preparing, planning, assisting in or fostering a terrorist act," he was quoted as saying.
Hizb ut-Tahir spokesman Mohammed Abdalwahab said the group called for the non-violent overthrow of governments and the rise of Islamic governments and Sharia law.
