Tensions 'trigger' synagogue attack
The Courier Mail ^ | July 31, 2006 | AAP

ANGER over the Middle East conflict and the spiralling civilian death toll in Lebanon might have triggered an attack on a Sydney synagogue, a rabbi said today. Rabbi Wernick and his young family were inside a house attached to a synagogue in Mason Street at Parramatta when it was attacked about 9pm (AEST) last night.

Projectiles were hurled at the roof of the synagogue, and blocks of concrete were thrown at two cars, smashing windows.

Shortly after the incident witnesses told police they saw a group of about 10 Middle Eastern men laughing and running down a nearby street.

Rabbi Wernick said the attack on the synagogue, which was firebombed a few years ago, lasted about 30 seconds.

He said the conflict between Israel and Lebanon might have been a trigger for the attack, a possibility that was upsetting.

"It is always in the back of your mind, but on the one hand you don't really think that something that is happening in Lebanon will effect a synagogue in Parramatta," the 32-year-old rabbi said.

"I don't see how people could link something that is going on on the other side of the world to a small family synagogue ...

"I feel a little sorry for them, that they think that is an appropriate action."

Rabbi Wernick said he would consider beefing up his own home security.

"In a political climate, every organisation is taking precautions," he said.

The rabbi said he could not say for certain that the synagogue attack was sparked by Israel's strike yesterday on the Lebanese village of Qana, which killed more than 50 civilians including dozens of children.

"Obviously in any war, people hopefully try to avoid civilian targets, but I think unfortunately to a certain extent it is inevitable," he said.

"It's a great shame to bring that conflict to here."

Acting Inspector Col Green said police had stepped up their patrols of Jewish and Islamic sites following Israel's attacks on Lebanon.

"With the heightened political and racial tensions, police are aware that these things may occur," he said.

"We have put in place strategies to prevent that and to investigate the incidents that do occur."

Inspector Green called on all Australians to exercise racial and religious tolerance and urged anyone with information about the attack on the synagogue to contact police.

Cut through the bs Muslims are attacking Jews. It is not tensions. It is a group that tends to turn to violence when they do not get their way. The rockets fired on Northern Israel are not leading to Jews attacking Mosques or Muslim religious leaders.

Some Questions about Qana

Friends,

1. Tonight, an IDF spokesman showed aerial photos of rockets being fired from residential areas in Qana. It showed the portable rocket launchers being parked beneath residential buildings. The spokesman said that the bombs dropped on Qana were dropped at 1 a.m.

The reports of the building collapse took place at 7 a.m. Also, no bombs actually hit the building. So, who was responsible for the collapse of that building? Could Hezbollah weapons have exploded, destroying the building? Was it deliberate, a way to pressure Israel into a ceasefire the same way they did last time, in exactly the same spot? And why is no one in the media picking up on this time gap and asking questions?

2. The number of those injured is being supplied by
Lebanese sources, and being quoted by all the news stations.
So far, only 26 bodies have been recovered. But news reports are saying the number was twice that, and half are children. That too is supplied by unknown sources and repeated by the major media.

3. At 7 a.m. a barrage of Hezbollah rockets hit the shopping center and buildings of Kiryat Shmona, unlike anything else the town has experienced.
Altogether 1500 kilograms of bombs have hit the area's
approximately 25,000 residents remaining in their homes.
Where is the outrage over that?

Notice how Muslims commit violent crimes against Jews in every country they move to. It's ridiculous to think Muslims in this country are somehow nicer than the ones in England, France, or anywhere else. So far, Muslims in America have mostly been quiet because our country because they know they are being watched. However, it's only a matter of time before some Muslim blows up a synogogue.

Wonder if the police will protect mosques from retaliation like they did in Seattle.

Luigi,

You are mistaken.. That is not our way, nor should it be.

Breaking the laws we have in place will not aid in our Victory over Islamofacism any more than surrendering hard won liberties will serve us as "Men of the West" in this fight. The Islamofacists and their supporters are already beaten and they know it. All you are watching are the involuntary movements of a corpse which is the Death Cult of Islamofacisim.

The problem is that we are civilized, and they are not. Islam is a barbaric religion that advocates the practice of barbarism amongst its followers.

It is better to have the barbarian outside the gates, than inside the gates.

However, it is best to have him HANGING from the gates.

Dear Luigi,

We are not even warmed up yet in dealing with those who murderer and support the murders of people like Fabrizio Quattrocchi, Little Christian Girls beheaded in the Phillipeans, A young Jewish Mother (pregnant) and her three little girls gunned down as they drove in their car. Those who murdered these and the 300 children of Beslyn have yet to feel the breath of our righteous wrath but make no mistake it is coming.

To encourage the heart and strengthen ones resolve..

Consider the prescient writings of Mansoor Ijaz below.

http://www.benadorassociates.com/article/7312

"We Muslims (I am an American whose faith remains that of the humane and dignified Islam) have no legs to stand on anymore when those who proclaim our religion are willing to put a gun to a child's head, pull the trigger, and call it an act of martyrdom. Islam no longer carries a message of hope, only the indelible impressions of cruelty. Its purveyors are bankrupt of ideas that inspire, and have failed in an ideology that in its very heart today has become hypocritical. To top it all off, America's Muslims — whose freedom to craft and convey an opposition to the terrorist cancer is protected by the very people those terrorists seek to destroy, sit silent — stone cold silent."

----

Perhaps what saddens me (but in no way weakens my resolve) is to know that there are people like Mansoor Ijaz who have spoken for reason.

What the American Muslim community particularly has done is in fact sentenced themselves to third class citizenship. A sentence that more likely than not will be forever. Unlike German Americans who in the overwhelming majority simply marched off to war or the Japanese Americans who leaving their families in relocation camps also stood up for their adopted nation. The American Muslim community will never enjoy the honor nor the privilege which comes from that collective moment of decision. A missed opportunity now long past.

Indeed "Tested and found wanting"

The five pillars of Islam..... murder, bestiality, terrorism, cowardice and abuse of women and children.

Know islam, no peace;
No islam, know peace

Unfortunately the truth does not matter one bit. If the Isrealis keep kicking the crap out of the hezzies every town they hit will have an incident like this. I think the hezzies blew up the place on purpose. Would you think they wouldn't do such a thing?
