KABUL: Less than a year after his release from Guantanamo Bay, a former Taliban envoy has written a book on his "humiliation" with the hope it will add pressure on the United States to wind up the controversial prison.
Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef, the Taliban's former ambassador to Pakistan and the face of the regime at the time of its fall, spent nearly four years in US detention before being released and handed over to Afghan authorities in September 2005.
"I have been humiliated and tortured. By depicting the oppression that is going on in Guantanamo, I have tried to get the world's attention and hope to put pressure on America to close it down," he said from his heavily guarded home in west Kabul. "My detention was totally illegal."
...
"I condemn whatever Americans and Pakistan have done to me ... I had done no crime, had harmed nobody," said the bearded cleric, wearing a black turban and shalwar kameez (baggy shirt and trousers).
"When Americans invaded Afghanistan, the entire world knows where I was. I was dealing with the media in Pakistan. I have never been involved in fighting."

"Taliban insurgents threatened on Sunday to kill a Lebanese engineer captured in southern Afghanistan, a day before NATO takes over security in the south."
Does Zaeef extend the same indignation to the Lebanese engineer's torture and humiliation at the hands of the Taliban?
Ah, Abdul. You're just saying that to make me feel good.
waaaaaaa!
And that's just from being a Muzzie (the religion of "violins").
Note Muzzie "violins" above.
How many American prisoners of the terrorists have been released and written about their ordeal?
please do tell us of these things you endured while at Guantanamo. what was that? 3 meals a day, a Quran, a prayer mat?.. oh oh they jailed you!
he's got the profile of a Pig...
We should have fed him alive to feral pigs.
Didn't a group of his buddies cut off the head of Nick Berg and post it on the internet ? He apparently didn't have a problem with that.I wish I could have had a chance to interrogate him at Gittmo.I would have used the ole Louisville slugger bat, only in a humane way,use your imagination to talk to him !!!
The black turban is what the Taliban wear, so it sounds like this guy is still affiliated with them. This guy should be rearrested and sent back to Gitmo. He can work on his second book from Cuba.
They made me bark like a dog Mr Wally!
Yeah, he looks rough. All this time he could have been living in a cave eating rancid couscous, but spent a few years on the seashore in Cuba with the A/C blowing up his "baggy pants" reading the Koran and eating gourmet chicken.
Keep Gitmo going. It keeps 400 or so more of these jerks off the airwaves.
We establish a prison to the remote Aleutian Islands which lie east of Alaska.
Pick an island without an airstrip requiring visitors to rough it via the sea in the cold nasty north Pacific.
Rotate the guards after a few months to ensure their well-being. Promise prisoners who cooperate a transfer to Gitmo.
Maybe. However, this book will be read around the globe. IMHO, history will not be kind to Guantanamo.
Humiliated and tortured? You still have your f-ing head attached to your shoulders there taliban puke. Too bad.
Thats just too bad.
When it comes to being humiliated or dead i think he came out ahead.
