Great catch - I hadn't heard of that - I think you are really on to something. It's too coincidental to be . . . a coincidence!

Another excellent catch - I hadn't noticed that. You are ON this morning!

"expensive housing"
The most expensive housing in the country is in areas where the political culture is controlled by liberals: Boston, Seattle, San Francisco, etc. Liberals are hostile to development, penalizing it, taxing it, even preventing it, so this is no accident. The goal of the liberal elites is for them to have the nice houses and expensive condos and to force everyone else into "affordable" tenements.

"The Boston Globe's version of the American Dream translates to "middle class lifestyles for working class intellects/skill-sets" . . . "
I don't think they really want this; it is just rhetoric. What they want is not 1950s-style lifestyles for the masses, but to put everyone into "affordable" apartments, take away their cars, and give them free health care to shut them up. Meawhile, the liberal elites will vacation at Martha's Vineyard.

Excellent point. If there weren't so much NIMBYism and government regulation, housing would be much more affordable - without the need for any govt. subsidy!

^^ One of my favorite activities is reading the Sunday Boston Globe or New York Times, with their socialist-dream editorials juxtaposed with pages of advertisements for $2 million condos.

Plus about 1/3 of the cost of housing can be laid directly at the feet of gub'mint, what with this permit, that permit, review boards, mandated materials, historic districts, new code restrictions, etc.
As usual, the libs and goober'ment create a problem, then proceed, with ooga-booga nostrums, regulations and "good intentions", to make the problem worse.

What I find most disturbing is that the Globe never once mentions the Democrat Party even as they regurgitate their party's latest talkng points, choosing instead to cloak their editorial's "Americn Dream" rhetoric in a reference to a couple of local guys who have "launched a yearlong series of discussions". The brazen duplicity and downright sneakiness of these sick scumbags at the Globe makes me puke a little.
But then, really, what else would you expect from liberals?

"But from 1968 to 1998, income inequality increased."
Gosh, that just happens to coincide with the implementation of indentured constituency: the programs of the Great Society.
So what doth the Globe recommend? More of the same!"
What is really sad is that the answer is right there before them ensconced in those dates; and yet they are blinded by their faith in liberalism.
