BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. -- Twenty-five illegal immigrants employed as contract workers at this Air Force base were arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
The arrests of the construction and landscape workers were made Friday.
The workers were "foreign nationals," according to a news release from the 2nd Bomb Wing that did not specify countries of origin. Most had obtained fraudulent Social Security and alien registration numbers to complete forms, the release said.
The workers did not have access to secure information, 2nd Bomb Wing spokesman Lt. Frank Hartnett said. He would not say how the workers got on the base.
Uh...they were hired as contract workers and given passes is my guess. From the first line...

I would assume that in times past background checks were not performed on gardeners hired by contractors. Years ago, in the middle of the Cold War, I taught SCUBA diving on a SAC base and there was no background check performed. Perhaps there should be in a post 9-11 world.

You know every time I read something like this (did not/would not/could not specify countries of origin, my antennae goes up and I get so furious at these PC A*holes who refuse to share any information with us (as if that fact rises anywhere near the level of being classified) less, we learn that some or many, may actually be from countries that wish to do us harm. Then, we would really get p*ssed and that is probably why someone (of importance no doubt /sarc) made this "command" decision to withhold this information.
As an aside, why does there NEVER seem to be any "leakers" who will provide "us" with the type and kind of information we could benefit from (such as where these illegals are from) such as that which is being fed to the NY Slimes?
