The absolute filth and garbage out of the mouths of Democrats never ceases. For YEARS when they controlled congress and the presidency, NOTHING was done about illegal immigration. Now that the Republicans (or at least some of them) try to do something about it, the REPUBLICANS are the problem, not illegal immigrants. This is beyond words...

"Molyneux said the federal government has plans to expand the number of agents within Immigration and Customs Enforcement across the country."
And why is that Mr President?
Especially in view of this:
" She has fewer agents "than you can count on your fingers" to handle calls from other law enforcement agencies about illegal immigrants. "They need more like 250," the governor said."
ICE is becoming more of a joke by the minute.

And another fine example of the gift from Washington --- Thank You President Bush and to all the good Senators. The gift that will just keep on giving (TAKING). It will just continue to get worse, while the pols worry about how to capture the Mexican vote.

State and local governments need to start taking matters into their own hands. Clearly, the federal government doesn't give a damn about the illegal problem.

"Our biggest issue is manpower," said Katherine Molyneux, who represented ICE. "It would be impossible to handle every single (illegal immigrant)."
So, when a problem is too big, they just throw up their hands and give up.
Hastert was on the border earlier today. He is saying 'zero penetration' for illegals. Maybe he got an eye full and will start trying to solve the problem.

Federal immigration officials here say they simply do not have enough agents to process every person assumed to be in the country illegally. At the request of Gov. Phil Bredesen, representatives of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, met Friday with state and local law enforcement officials to improve communication among all agencies in handling illegal immigrationWhat is this all about? Don't have enough people so they dialogue? How is that going to do anything for the situation? Whole thing is garbage.

So the message to the world is: any problem that can be made "politically sensitive" and large can be ignored until it changes the face of America.

85% of the proposed 6,000 National Guard still aren't on the border yet. 'Officials' say they are still in training. If so, then they've been in training for 2 months, for their 2-week stint on the border.
Maybe they could shorten the training time and increase the stint-on-the-border time.

Hows this:
Get what you can get today. Maybe put in an extra half hour of OT, we'll pay you for it.
Then come back in the morning, and get some more.
Stop whining, get busy.

I have a very simple solution to the problem. It requires going "cold turkey".
Deputize all who wish to carry a gun, and round up the illegals. Arrest the employers, and throw them in jail, fine them heavily, and take their profits.
I will volunteer to drive a bus to the border, where we use the cheap labor to build a tall fence! I'd bet we can get a couple million guns together by friday, and the will to put them to use!

Now that the Republicans (or at least some of them) try to do something about it, the REPUBLICANS are the problem, not illegal immigrants. To be honest, the Bush administration, led by Bush, has never had any intention of doing anything about "immigration".
THE "NEW AMERICAN"..........<
We are now one of the largest Spanish-speaking nations in the world. We're a major source of Latin music, journalism and culture.
Just go to Miami, or San Antonio, Los Angeles, Chicago or West New York, New Jersey ... and close your eyes and listen. You could just as easily be in Santo Domingo or Santiago, or San Miguel de Allende.
For years our nation has debated this change -- some have praised it and others have resented it. By nominating me, my party has made a choice to welcome the new America.
As I speak, we are celebrating the success of democracy in Mexico. George Bush from a campaign speech in Miami, August 2000. |
You can read the speech here.
Here is an excerpt of a good critique of that speech:
In equating our intimate historic bonds to our mother country and to Canada with our ties to Mexico, W. shows a staggering ignorance of the civilizational facts of life. The reason we are so close to Britain and Canada is that we share with them a common historical culture, language, literature, and legal system, as well as similar standards of behavior, expectations of public officials, and so on. Federal immigration officials here say they simply do not have enough agents to process every person assumed to be in the country illegally.Never fear, Congress will save us!. Like the fence, Congress voted for 800 new ICE Agents and then, months later refused to fund the hiring of the Agents.
They will do the same to any border enforcement bill.

"Our biggest issue is manpower," said Katherine Molyneux, who represented ICE. "It would be impossible to handle every single (illegal immigrant)." Bredesen said he wants to determine what kinds of criminal offenses need to take priority with immigration officials and make state and local law enforcement aware of those priorities.
That is as much as I read. I can't help but remember how the excuse was "illegals are living in the shadows" and there was no way to find them all. Now there is not enough manpower. What they are saying is it is not a priority. Look how fast they got people through basic training for the war (even illegal aliens were signed up). Sheesh!
