I think you're right. I don't know which is worse. The overt ones or the ones who pretend to be "conservatives", but who oppose every effort to protect children and families on some made-up technicality.

""Nobody can argue with the right of everyone to be respected and safe," says Beresford. "Now it's time to celebrate diversity.""

They should not argue with the first amendment either. If they are homo's then we have the right to call a homo a homo. The sin is the hateful part not necessarily the person. I personally have no use for their lifestyle. I also have no use for them trying to slam their lifestyle down our school children's throats. Amen.

"Using the term "that's so gay" perpetuates discrimination and impacts the emotional safety of students--and that affects the entire school system," says Beresford.

Emotional safety? This guy is more than a drinker of the Koolaid.  He's concocting the stuff, which is so gay.

"It's a really 'othering' statement," she continues. "It's a way of saying 'those are other people, not us.'"

An "othering statement"?  Man, I'm so far behind the adjectival-verbing curve it's surprising anyone can understand me at all.

Beresford, who recently won Xtra West's Straight Ally of the Year award for her work with schools.

"Straight?"  That's an othering statement that says, "Just another breeder."  Physician heel, then heal thyself.

Pander, pander. Barf bucket please.

Don't sweat the small stuff. Human nature demands a replacement that it just as descriptive.. Say..

"That's so diverse of you" or
"That's so PC of you" or
"That's so ethnic..." or
"Oh so very rainbow..."

In a year or two the pantywaists will shudder at how terrible it all is and another phrase will be found.

Kids, from now on you have to say "That's so gay - not that there's anything wrong with that"

You win the thread.

No need to drag anii into it. I know two dykes who between themselves, a turkey baster, and some sperm managed to produce a baby in one of them. Was this a heterosexual act, homosexual or akin to mowing the lawn?

No dude, that really is gay!

Any possibility that the higher suicide rates are more likely related to a child embracing a lifestyle that he/she knows in their heart is an aberration, rather than overhearing some straight kid saying, "that's so gay!"?

The BCTF materials, including its slogan "That's so gay is not okay," were a terrific fit for this campaign

These thought police are so foolish and pathetic that it is comical. Imagine a campaign to stamp out the use of the "N-word" that had as its core a slogan such as "It's not cool to call black people n******", with the N-word spelled out. They would have posters with the slogan, and have study groups repeating the slogan under the watchful eyes of the thought police, and provide extra credit to those brainwashed apple-polishers who wrote reports on the subject, and maybe even have competitions and awards for students who could go the longest without calling a black person a n***** (exception made, of course, when the N-word was used in the context of repeating the slogan), or for students who could produce the best posters incorporating the slogan. The obvious outcome (obvious, that is, except to these nimrods - oh, do I have "permission" to call them nimrods, or will I run afoul of some idiotic campaign somewhere pushing "Nimrods is not OK"?) is to publish the slur everywhere, and to have people routinely using the slur.

I don't like to drag the ugliness of homosexual acts into the debate, but it has to be done sometimes. How else can one explain that homosexuality isn't normal?

In the case of the lesbians, unless one of them produced that sperm, then they didn't reproduce. One of them reproduced with a male sperm doner. So it was an artificial act in which heterosexuality did the job inside the lesbian's womb. Try as they might, two men can't "mate" and make a baby. Neither can two women.

Isn't that obvious?

Oh, lots of activities don't produce children. Mowing your lawn doesn't produce children. Buying a new car doesn't produce children. Pretty much anything that isn't artificial insemination or heterosexual sex doesn't produce children. What do you have against activities that don't produce children?

Mowing the lawn does not produce AIDS. Buying the car doesn't spread hepatitis and warts. And walking to the store doesn't cause adult male incontinence.

I can't believe I'm explaining this to an adult, but, it is closer to mowing the lawn than it is to a heterosexual (natural) act.

I can't stand the word "homophobic". It's just plain stupid and misused.

That said, I corrected my daughter for saying "that's so gay" for the simple reason that it's insulting to a group of people who are different from her. Disagreeing with their lifestyle doesn't mean it's okay to be insulting.

Actually, since they used a turkey baster, it qualifies as cooking. I learned this from The Food Channel.

There have been people around here saying the same thing. A few weeks back, I saw the result. A kid had a T-shirt with "That's so Rainbow" on it. Same thing.
